Rain Gear For Those April Showers

rain0423.jpg

Everybody's looking forward to that gorgeous weekend, but isolated showers are in today's forecast. Rainy days do not have to be dreary days. Who needs the sun when today''s water proof fashion is so cheery and fun? Style expert Kevin Lennox is here with some slick looks.

Tonya - Just because it's dreary outside doesn't mean your wardrobe has to be dreary too. This fabulous cropped trench from Old Navy works in the rain but doesn't pander to it. This fantastic color will brighten your spirits even on the darkest stormy day. Paired with colorful boots and bag, you have the perfect antidote to the April showers blues.
From Old Navy: Cropped Trench Coat: $20; Rain Boots: $25; Patent Trim Tote: $10

Ryan - Fashion and function combine in a totally modern yet manly way. The blazer is not only functional with a nylon water resistant shell, but very fashionable with hints of military inspiration. Coordinated here with the deck shoe, which is totally making a comeback, and its leather and rubber soles make deck shoes fantastic to slog your way through the wet streets.
From Banana Republic: Military Inspired Jacket: $130; Sail Deck Shoe: $98; Slim Fit Dress Shirt: $35

Zoe - When you're totally adorable and 6 years old like Zoe here, matchy-matchy is righty-righty. This butterfly patterned outfit is beyond cute, and it perfectly conceals all the functionality her parents crave. The coat is completely waterproof with heat sealed seams. The boots also have an anti-microbial coating to help reduce that stinky odor kids shoes can pick up, but Zoe would never suspect. She just looks great!
From Lands' End: Kids Print Rain Slicker: $45.50; Print Rain & Shine Boot: $29.50; Mini Lunch Tote: $19.50

Jack - Boys will be boys, and almost never does that include beyond fashionable, but this coat combines brings boy fashion to a whole new level. The tye-dye print is totally cool and of course completely functional. It's totally waterproof of course, but it also has reflective piping along the torso for better visibility and safety. The underarms are vented as well, so little Jack here doesn't over heat. And the boots and backpack are both water-resistant to keep Jack dry even in the pseudo-monsoons NYC can have.
From Lands' End: Kids Print Rain Slicker: $45.50, Print Rain & Shine Boot: $29.50, Classmate Backpack: $29.50

Danielle - This look is what I call PPC; Practical, Printed & Chic. The floral pattern here elevates a simple trench into an adorable fashion statement. I've paired it with a patent leather belt, to add some sophistication, but still stays waterproof. I've coordinated everything in matching browns and oranges to keep the style strong, but the best thing is we never sacrifice the waterproof functionality.
From Lands' End: Sunshower Rain Coat: $79.50; Patent Leather Skinny Belt: $24.50; Short Sleeved Polo Dress: $39.50; Rain Boots

To purchase these looks visit Old Navy, Banana Republic and Lands End.
