The cameras will be in PUBLIC areas, where anyone can see you anyway. There's no loss of privacy, and it can provide proof of a crime. Win-win.

Going to far.

This is just a way for them to get some funding and divert it to where they really want it to go.

I’m a criminal justice student and a prospective NYPD officer, and I don’t think it’s intrusive at all. We live in a new world and everyone takes the right to privacy to extremes. People need to ask themselves how much privacy you think you have right now. There’s a camera all over the city so adding more cameras for the security of the people in the city is not bad. Unless your involved in criminal activities why should cameras bother you?

We all have rights. BUT LETS NOT LET THE PAST BE FORGOTTEN. TAKE A WALK OVER TO GROUND ZERO! A Pro active approach is a step in the right direction.

Get use to the police cams because Brooklyn already have them and there is no way Manhattan is going to be exempt, especially after Sept. 11.

The NYPD is in a no-win situation where this plan is concerned. If this plan is implemented, people will scream that their right to privacy is being violated. If the NYPD doesn't implement the plan and something happens, people will scream to know why more wasn't done to protect them. I am happy to trade some privacy for protection against another 9/11. I submit that people who object to this plan are probably up to no good in the streets and afraid of being caught on camera.

F**k it and excuse the language. Put cameras all over the place.. What takes to make sure the people on NYC are safe.. Its not like they got cameras in our homes. The streets are a public place. *For the people that say thats a violation, those will be the first people saying "oh we should had put cameras like they said they were" after something happence..* NYC POLICE DEPT. CAMERA AWAY!! Im not doing nothing illegal to be hiding.. NYC REMEMBER THIS : BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!!..
