Master Your Metabolism With 'Biggest Loser' Coach Jillian Michaels

jillian%200408.jpg

Health coach for NBC's The Biggest Loser Jillian Michaels was here to talk about her new book Master Your Metabolism. One of the key messages in her book is no matter where you are in your "diet" goals (someone looking to lose a great deal of weight, a thin person looking to maintain, etc.) everyone can and should all be taking advantage of the great health benefits of balancing our hormones/metabolism. Her three-steps to getting your hormones in check and your metabolism working for you are:

Remove: Start detoxifying by removing antinutrients that disrupt the body's natural hormonal balance, causing it to speed the excessive release of weight-gain hormones (insulin, estrogen, cortisol) and to block the release of weight-loss hormones (thyroid, leptin, adiponectin, HGH).
Foods To Remove: Hydrogenated Fats: chips, crackers, cookies, pies and bread; Refined Grains: white pasta, flour tortillas, white rice and white bread; High-Fructose Corn Syrup: found in soda; Artificial Sweeteners

Restore: Suboptimal nutrition causes catabolic damage (loss of muscle tissue, slowing of cellular repair and reproduction, and slowing of the metabolism), so it's extremely important that we restore optimum nutrition to our diets. In Step 2, there are 10 super foods that facilitate metabolic repair and re-create natural hormonal equilibrium.

Rebalance: Rebalance the energy going into and out of your body by addressing the frequency, quantity, combinations, and timing of meals and snacks to make your metabolism work like a fat-burning machine.

Jillian's Super Foods include:
• Legumes (best choice: red beans)
• Alliums (best choice: garlic)
• Berries (they're all great)
• Meat and eggs (best choice: Alaskan wild salmon)
• Colorful fruits and veggies (best choice: tomatoes)
• Cruciferous veggies (best choice: broccoli)
• Dark-green leafy veggies (best choice: spinach)
• Nuts and seeds (best choice: almonds and walnuts)
• Organic dairy (best choice: organic low-fat plain yogurt)
• Whole grains (best choice: tie between oats and barley)

Master Your Metabolism is available in book stores now. For more information, visit www.JillianMichaels.com.

Love the new book! Her Hot Bod in a Box set of exercise cards are fantastic too! Love Jillian!

I'm really excited to check out Jillian's new book, it sounds full of great tips. I'm so glad she's emphasizing removing food that contributes to hormone imbalances. Many of us deal with imbalances and don't even know that is what is affecting our weight, mood, energy level, even sex drive. Hooray for valuable nutrition and health info!

This book is really amazing, I read it in 2 days that good! I am doing exactly what she said in her book, and I feel great. You must get it, it is an eye opener and she has done alot of research. You must also try her "metabolism work out" WOW! I stop listening to other fad diets and strickly do JM, I am seeing results.
Good Luck.

I love Jillian! She has such compassion for the health of others because of her own health issues at a young age. I just started reading her book and I'm so excited to get started on her eating plan. Thanks Jillian!

I was diagnosed with Thyroid 10 years ago and have been on meds. I love Jillian's book. How can I email her with questions?
