Good day,
I watch the WPIX morning news Mon-Friday religious as I get ready for work. Today (4/7/09)I saw the program on The Children's Place w/ A.K. LaMonica. And I must say that I was surprised to see such a diverse channel (WPIX) – in a well varied area (NY) along with a name brand (Children’s place) that all varieties of races buy for their children because of the affordable price, great quality and keen style be so one-sided with their representation on TV. I can understand the theme of “High School Musical” but they allllll looked like Zack and the female star. I was disappointed to see this in these times. I am not saying it is a “Black and White / Race” thing but there were NO variation for the mold. From a parent that loves Children Place and a viewer of WPIX – morning news, I was a bit annoyed. There were 5 kids (very shy – unemotional kids) representing on that stage - It would have been nice to see kids at least 1 that was unique.. The sad thing is this child would not be unique – but maybe to you.

Thank you for reading my concern….

With regards to R Wallace's post, it is most unfortunate to see demonstrated by you, that in a time when I felt that we were beginning to break through barriers built by preconceptions based on one's appearance, I have sadly been mistaken. Your comments make it quite clear that your statements are based primarily on what you see and not what you know. I personally know one of these children and know her to be as beautiful inside as she is outside something I am certain it due to the loving and nurturing environment provided by her multicultural family.

Perhaps we can all take some time to re-learn the very valuable lesson here that appearances can indeed be deceiving.
