Flo Rida Spins Us 'Right Round' With His Infectious Grooves

He captured our attention with the infectious and entrancing hit, "Right Round": rap superstar Flo Rida stopped by live in our studio to perform the track, along with his new single, "Sugar."

Flo Rida first shattered digital sales of his first album "Mail on Sunday," which was released a year ago. He continues his record-breaking streak with his newest effort, R.O.O.T.S. The album features cameos by the likes of Ne-Yo, Nelly Furtado, Akon, and Wyclef Jean. "Right Round" sold over 636,000 downloads in its first week, also making it the highest digital single debut ever. The track also became the fastest million-selling digital song ever, reaching platinum status in just two weeks.

The title R.O.O.T.S. is an acronym for "Route Of Overcoming The Struggle" and was inspired by Flo Rida's 2008 trip to Africa for the MTV Africa Music Awards.

Born Tramar Dillard, Flo Rida was raised alongside seven sisters by his single mother in Carol City, one of the roughest neighborhoods in Miami. Alluding to his early struggles, he says on his official website: "My trip [to Africa] was eye-opening. I was aware of all the struggles that Africans go though...It also made me think about my own struggles and the adversity I had to face growing up in the projects...This album gives my fans a chance to know me as a person, prior to my success. With that said, I still have a lot of party joints that complement it all, making R.O.O.T.S. a well-rounded album."

R.O.O.T.S. is in stores now.
