Emily: I'm Engaged!

emily0421a.jpg

You may have noticed that Emily Frances has been off the air for the past few weeks. There's a good reason for it. Sorry guys, but she is off the market. Emily got engaged in Israel!

It's a beautiful story that romance novels are written about. Her then boyfriend, now fiancé, Ami rented a small plane flown by his nephew, an Israeli airforce pilot, and whisked Emily off to the Dead Sea for a joy ride. Emily was so clueless to the surprise that she was busy taking pictures of Masada with her new camera and upon landing, there was a huge banner on the runway asking Emily to marry him. She, of course, said, “Yes.”

When they landed at the airstrip, Ami's two sons Eli and Aaron were waiting at the airport with champagne to celebrate the happy occasion. They’re set to be one big happy family.

Then, the boys took Emily to the Dead Sea where Ami and Emily first met 1 1/2 years ago, sort of. Here's the catch! Emily was on vacation in Israel and was floating in the Dead Sea with friends. Ami was at the same hotel on business when he literally ran into his next door neighbor from New York.

Ami was hanging out with his neighbor Gerard, who proceeded to take pictures of Emily and her friends in the sea. Ami noticed Emily and asked Gerard who she was. Gerard said, "some girl on TV" and Emily was gone before Ami could approach her.

Then, another relationship and more than a year later, Emily literally bumped into Ami on 63rd and Lex. Em was lost trying to find a cafe and Ami happened to be going into his office and gave her directions. He proceeded to ask for her number. And Gerard, who happens to be friends with Emily, told her the story from the Dead Sea.

The rest is history. Dreams do come true! Congratulations, Emily!

What's in the water over at WPIX? First it was Suki getting married (and now pregnant), then Tiffany getting engaged, now Emily's fallen for the bended knee routine too...are there no single women left on the Morning News staff? Man...

In 2004, i had the biggest crush on Emily. I was out of work at the time, so i would wait 4 her segments, and be upset if i missed one! Its weird how the crush 'faded,' maybe because i knew i'd never meet her, but strangely enough after reading today in the ny daily news that she's getting married, those feelings are coming back! Here i am crying like a baby over it. I really loved her, even id f i didn't know her. Marriage is a big step, so i wish you well, Em. If you're as cool off air as on air, you're hubby is one lucky guy.
