Alexis Gershwin Honors The Music Of Her Uncle With 'Gershwin Sings Gershwin'

She's the niece of George and Ira Gershwin--now Alexis Gershwin is stepping into the spotlight on her own accord with Gershwin Sings Gershwin, a compilation of her uncle's greatest songs. She stopped by our studio to perform "S' Wonderful" live from her album.

From sultry show tunes to soaring ballads, Ms. Gershwin commands full range of her vocal talent. While at home in almost any genre her focus remains on her first love--jazz and blues. Legendary music from the likes of Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and of course, the Gershwins have remained an integral part of her repertoire throughout her career. She has performed in theatres and concert halls throughout Europe and the U.S. and worked with some of the best producers in the industry.

On Gershwin Sings Gershwin, she has teamed with acclaimed musical director Steven Applegate to recreate some of the most timeless music of all- that of her uncles George and Ira Gershwin. Ms. Gershwin offers us his own wonderful arrangements of favorites like “A Foggy Day,” “The Man That Got Away,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” “Embraceable You” and “I Can’t Get Started.”
