COST is a dirty four letter word.
Fares go up, ridership goes down for a net of nothing. Revenue stream is the same. Expense stream is a rising exponentially. Who is gouging on the expense side? Electricity, health insurance, labor, repairs?

It would be unfair to raise fare's due to the fact these so called CEO's running MTA are the reason they 're in trouble, due to fact that they have been living off the fat of the land (MTA'S Money) and now they're crying wolf, for instance
1. Housing allowance why should the company pay for they 're mortages'/rent they make over 250,00 a year can't they pay if from the check ????
2. Driving around in brand new car's that tax payers are paying for and paying the drivers with MTA payroll
3. Bonus every three months or so & 10%pay raise
with all that money they get within a monthly basis they gross over 350,000 a year and before our 44th president came into office they haven't paid their share of taxess for years and still intend not to. There should be accounability for all they have been doing for years and it's time to pay the piper. I need the little income I get biweekly, If they want to help the MTA and represent them as CEO's take a pay cut they can afford it and start taking the train to see how the rest of us live !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh boo hoo your paying 50 cents - 2 dollars extra to travel. New Jersey has been paying for gas prices rising for a long time now, so we suffer because we drive and you dont because you use the bus and subway. Weve been paying longer so it was only an amount of time before you had to pay too. Deal with it.

The MTA doesn't care about the people of New York, and they know that New Yorkers will not come together and put our foot down and say we will not take this anymore. They will keep raising the fare and New Yorkers will not do nothing about it. It is the same thing like the strike they are the highest paid city workers and they still wanted more. They don't realize that they are helping with the recession. This is when the Governor need to step in and stop this. As a New Yorker this is what you depend on to get to and from your place and they are just making it harder to do so. They want to put more money back in to the MTA start with the big people in office and work your way down. Its not far to us to suffer for the mistakes the MTA has made with the budget!!!

We as New yorkers need to stop sitting back. Its time to stand up and not take this type of abuse any more. This MTA fair hike is ridiculous and need to be stopped. Why is it that every year they can never meet their budget. I feel they dont deserve it, and im pretty sure every one agrees with me. A majority of MTA workers are lazy, they have attitudes when you try and ask as simple question about commuting. Not to mention how crowded the trains are every single morning, constant delays. I leave an extra hour early just to make my 10am class. Its sad that MTA is always crying for money, but no one wants to do their jobs. The question i raise also is where is all the money going? What is MTA doing with the money? In my eyes i see no improvements with train service. The senate needs to look more into that. They need to sit down and visually see the proof that money in their budget is being spent wisely. How is it that an MTA superviser went to jail fof stealing all this money, she had two houses with flat screens, new cars etc. was this money that she stole coming from the budjet money, also has MTA(big bosses)ever been investigated to find out why they are always BROKE? This is coming from the heart. I speak for all New Yorkers; It is time for a change in this City. I want to thank you for taking time out to read my letter. Hopefully it wil be heard
