How To Perfectly Pour A Pint Of Guinness

guinness0317.jpg

Did you know that 4 million pints of Guinness are brewed at the St. James Brewery in Dublin each day? Here to show us how to pour the perfect pint is someone who know all about each of these pints -- Guinness Master Brewer Fergal Murray.

Murray suggests you follow these simple steps:
1. Keep the cans cold. Don't shake them. Keeping the cans cold can settled are the ideal conditions.
2. Open the can on a flat surface. Don't hold it up or tilt it. If the can has been opened properly, there will be no bubbles bursting from the opening. If there are, set the can down and allow it to settle.
3. Don't let the can touch the glass at any stage.
4. Pour slowly to start. As the glass fills, speed up your pouring pace.
5. Let the liquid rise and form a creamy head.
6. Enjoy Guinness responsibly.

Did you also know that St. Patrick's Day is not an official US holiday? Murray spoke about Guinness' campaign to change that. The makers of the dry stout first issued Proposition 3-17 in 2008 and collected more than 352,000 signatures in support of the official holiday status. This year, the brand aims to bolster the movement as Americans need now, more than ever, to take a break and celebrate a holiday with friends and family.
