New West Village location of Roasting Plant Coffee, open 24 hours a day at 75 Greenwich Ave near 7th Avenue.
Why: The founder of these great coffee shops (the other one opened on the LES about two years ago) invented something called the Roasting Plant Javabot. It transports beans throughout the store, sending raw green beans to the roaster, roasted beans to holding chambers, and small amounts of precisely measured roasted beans to Swiss-made brewers for grinding and brewing. They brew each cup precisely fresh to order. It's futuristic and tastes fantastic!
Wool and the Gang's knitting class at The Smile, Sundays from 3 to 6pm, Free.

Seats are dappled with sunlight. The shop part of it curates Santa Maria Novella, Sol Moscot, The Lake & Stars, and Laguiole lining mantels.

The kitchen serves a simple menu (fresh ricotta and cherry tomato salad, roast beef sandwich with horseradish cream and arugula, chocolate and Brie baguette) through an old bank teller window. Peek downstairs at the new home of Saved Tattoo (a work in progress) and stop back for Wool and the Gang's knitting class (stitching sans bitching).

Why not follow up on MTA budget difficulty stories by reminding viewers of the four plus million the agency wasted on the RFK bridge signage, the ? millions being spent on the new MTA police station in Suffolk for which ground was recently broken, and the millions doled out for questionable disability pay to LIRR retirees?
