Stop Being So Myselfish With Your Status Updates!

Kurt the Cyberguy is on a mission to find the balance between the rattle of non-sense in updating your status every few minutes versus groundbreaking tweets that break news like the miracle on the Hudson, help our President get elected and protest a war. He's talking about twitter.com and facebook.com.

Ladies n gentlemen
I was trying to enjoy my morning when my bf flips on the TV and the Channel 11 news is on. They run a little bit on sites like facebook and twitter and how people leave pointless babble on their "status updates" and then continue to run their mouths about how selfish we are and how uninterested they are about hearing these non-sense comments. The way I see it they obviously had nothing better to speak about on the air and decided to criticize the status feeds on my favorite site.
Here is a thought. How is this any different from the usual meaningless crap we hear on the news everyday? Yeah, so every so often we hear things that actually affect our lives like the President elect, the traffic and the weather and the occasional hero who saves 155 lives on the Hudson. But more often than not we are hearing about the baby that got killed by its mother and dumped the body or stories about musicians who shave their heads and super models who don't know how to behave. Who hasn't heard about the angry idiot who played Batman and suddenly throws a tantrum and now his career is in jeopardy? (Because that information is just life altering!) Meanwhile I know too many people who have either been laid off or are at a high risk of loosing their job and they have kids to worry about. But the news want me to care about some rich dick head who can care less about any of us. But now because they didn't have a better story to air they pick on sites like myspace and facebook.
Let me get this straight. The people who are on your page are supposed to be your friends and basically the only status feeds you do get are the ones that come from people who are supposedly people you accepted as friends. (If you have people who are on your page because you accepted everyone, then you my dear are the dumb ass who is reading pointless updates. You did this to yourself.) Usually when I hear the news anchor run his stupid pie hole about something like how the president is inappropriately dressed. (Because this country doesn't have bigger fish to fry) and how an old haggy has-been is jealous of Beyonce ... oh well without that kind of news my life just simply cannot go on! Guess what I do when I don't like something on TV ?? Yup! You guessed it! I change the friggin channel.
Why am I so angry and just didn't change the channel this morning? Because this can potentially affect me. I like hearing about MY friends and the stupid shyat they do. That is the ONLY reason why I am on facebook and MySpace. I like hearing about my guy friend who "is headed to the gym" and my girlfriend who "finally lost the baby weight." You bet your ass that I will be first in line to check out the pics they post when their hard work has paid off. AND for all the mommies out there who are "kissing their husbands or tucking their babies in at night." It makes my world a better place because I know my friends are happy. It is nice that every once in awhile I can hear updates on my friends and not have to constantly hear about the loving elderly couple who got stabbed by an angry fat ass. Stories that make me terrified to live in this world and know I am hopeless to do anything about it.
Facebook, MySpace and other sites have bought me closer to friends I have not heard from in years who wouldn't even be in my life had it not been for sites like this. To all my friends and new found friends .... Please don't let negativity like this discourage you from putting up your posts. You guys are my celebrities and I enjoy laughing out loud at your silly posts. To those of you who don't like the meaningless babble here is a nice juicy kiss blown to you from my extended middle finger because "Sweet Pea if you don't like what you are reading then get the hell off the site! You don't have to be here."
Love you all my buddies and to the rest of you who don't like it BESE MI CULO
~ Ciao
