"I left college and 2 months later - 911. And that was around the time that I started my first business. And a story like that is really going to help the young entrepreneur. Right? So hearing something like that - they need that. They need that inspiration right now." Gabrielle Bernstein.
Well, I was SO distracted by the monumental loss of life and property that I had neglected to notice that it was all about you, Ms. Bernstein. How foolish of me.
I think this is a great way to give back to the young women of the world. I teach at-risk youth,am an artist and entrepreneur and am going to sign up as soon as I get a few moments to create a profile etc. If I can help a few more young women online, then that is fab!
Rene,
I truly apologize if the 911 comment came across the wrong way. I understand how you may have perceived it and that was not my intention at all. I simply meant to portray that anything is possible even in tough economic times.
Wishing you the best,
Gabrielle Bernstein
Sadly, I understand you may mean well, Ms. Bernstein. But you're style of coming across is largely representative of the self-centeredness and self-absorption of our current generation - a generation overly concerned about themselves rather than what they can bring to society's table. It's a way of American life that becomes more and more prevalent with each successive generation.
Aside from that, I'm sure you're a nice person in spite of your reflective tunnel vision. I wish you the very best in all of your endeavors.

Rene,
Having had Gabrielle as a repeat guest speaker in my Baruch College class for past several years, I would vouch for her genuine sincerity.

Abe D. Tawil,
I'm sorry, but a sentence-long 'voucher' in a blog following an unfamiliar name doesn't amount to much (even when posted twice). The very fact that you feel such a thing helps to carry her reputation drives my point home regarding our society's ever-prevalent self-centeredness.
She had just graduated college, just started a business, and was young. She had a leg up over so many other residents of New York and Washington. We all suffered massive loss of life, property, and jobs. Many lost family and friends. Many more were called off to war, which resulted in the loss of more family, friends, and peace of mind for some who were called off to serve. She had a two and a half minute window to sell herself and so decided to do that by piggybacking herself on the still reverberating shock wave of September 11th, when she probably hadn't suffered much passed the memory of what she may have seen on television. I don't care for personally attacking anyone and I wish her the very best on the success of her business. I just hope she would choose to not use that story as a pitch for her service ever again.
