How To Extend Your Holiday Decorations Past December

hallmark1231a.jpg

Hallmark Magazine's Lifestyle Editor Amy Palanjian is showing us how to extend the life of your holiday decorations. She'll share ideas in which you can use them all year round!

For more decorating tips, pick up the latest copy of Hallmark Magazine or visit www.hallmarkmagazine.com.

HER 5 DECORATING TIPS AFTER THE JUMP...

1. Branches from tree or greenery into a glittery arrangement
Remove the berries and greenery from branches, give them a coat of silver spray paint, top with glitter and loosely arrange in a tall cylindrical vase. Make a large arrangement and place on the floor of a room for an instant enhancement, or make smaller ones to use by your bedside or on your kitchen counter.

2. Snowmen decorations and candlesticks into a display for a mantle or sideboard
Collect all of the little snowmen around your house (and from your tree) and repurpose them into candlesticks for a cheerful display to line your mantle.

3. Holiday Wreath into a wintertime snowy bird wreath
Remove the candy canes and holly leaves from a fresh or artificial wreath and add some simple birds and silver ornaments to have a winter wreath to last through January and February.

4. Ribbons and yarn trimmings into a centerpiece
Secure the end of each roll with a small piece of tape and use your prettiest ribbons all year round as a centerpiece or decoration. Simply place a few rolls into a decorative bowl and enjoy the colors and textures, changing them to fit each seasons and using whenever you need to wrap a package.

5. Holiday cards into a star garland
Simply using a pair of scissors, you can transform greeting cards into a garland perfect to lift your spirits during the cold months. It's also a great project to do with your kids.
