Help Me Howard: Motorcycle Death
Back in August 2008, Ainsworth Wright was riding his motorcycle on Route 130 in South Brunswick, New Jersey, when he was struck and killed by a car making an illegal U-turn.
Now as his wife and children deal with his loss, adding insult to injury is the fact that according to NJ state laws, the u-turn driver may not face any serious charges. Howard talks to the family.

Hello Howard, I saw your report last night; my heartfelt sympathy to the Wright family. My 20-year-old Brother, Steve, was killed in a road-rage incident by a NJ motorist who had a suspended driver's license and had been involed in a prior motor vehicle accident in which a death had also occurred. No arrests, fines, etc., were made to this reckless man driving under a susperded license when we inquired several months afterwards. Needless to say, our hearts were torn apart when we learned my Brother was brain dead and we had to make a decision to remove him from life support and donate his organs. The shock was too much to bear and our hearts continue to ache with pain and sadness each day. The local police took no action even after a witness reported he heard arguing outside his home when my Brother pulled his car over because he was being tailgated. The witness also reported seeing my Brother and the tailgater go back into their cars and the tailgater passed my Brother's car at high speed and drove my Brother off the road and into a telephone pole. Steve went through the windshield; the tailgater drove away. The local police told us the tailgater was a known problem in town but it was out of their hands becasue it was a civil & motor vehicle matter. I convinced my folks to talk to a lawyer; they did and it was too heart wrenching for them so they decided to leave it in the Lord's hands. To my knowledge, the driver who killed my brother was not held accountable under NJ laws and has gone on with his life as normal. An accident like the Wright's reopens old wounds; their pain is felt...and once again the question: "why does the State of New Jersey allow reckless, illegal drivers to get away with murder?" Thank you for the opportunity to share my comments; good luck in your endeavors. Diane
