Actor Richard Belzer Says "I Am Not A Cop'

Star of Law & Order: SVU Richard Belzer stopped by the CW11 studio to talk about his new book I Am Not a Cop, which is available in stores now.

This Connecticut native has had comedy in his blood for a long time. During the late 1970s, he was the audience warm-up comedian for Saturday Night Live's first season. Early in his career, Belzer did his stand up routine at Pips, The Improv, and Catch a Rising Star. Recently, according to NBC, "Belzer was honored by the New York Friars Club and the Toyota Comedy Festival as the honoree of the first ever roast that was open to the public."

Belzer is notorious in the acting industry, too, for playing the same role in nine different series. According to IMDB.com, "He has played Detective John Munch in Homicide: Life on the Street (1993), Law & Order (1990), The X Files (1993), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999), The Beat (2000), Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005), Arrested Development (2003), The Wire (2002), and Paris enquêtes criminelles (2007)."

Belzer's cousin Henry Winkler also appeared in the series Arrested Development.
