Actress Leighton Meester plays socialite Blair Waldorf on the CW’s Gossip Girl, which airs Mondays at 8pm. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and she spoke a charity event hosted by the United Nations Development Fund For Women and Safe Horizon.

Meester will be in New York's Union Square Park on today, Thursday, October 2 at 12pm encouraging local residents and notable New Yorkers to take a stand against domestic violence by donating their shoes and walking the runway. The event is part of the Say NO to Violence Campaign. The CW11 Morning News team was happy to donate shoes for the cause.

Meester began her professional acting career in 1999 with a role in an episode of Law & Order. Her big break, though, was in 2004 when she guest starred in HBO's Entourage as singer Justine Chapin.

When she's not working on Gossip Girl, Meester enjoys singing and songwriting. In fact, she is working on her debut music album, rumored to be called Prodigy with a 2009 release date. She recently recorded a cover of the Jackie DeShannon song "Bette David Eyes."

It was good to see Blonde. She still looks great. Her music was influential to many.
