Local Resident Cullen Jones Swimming For Olympic Gold

Born in the Bronx and raised in Irvington, NJ, Cullen Jones is swimming his way to the top of the ultimate world stage this weekend at the Beijing Summer Olympics.
Jones, 24, has already won several medals in other international competitions, but this first-time Olympian is on the verge of becoming the first African-American swimmer to win the coveted gold medal. His swim is Sunday evening.
When Jones is not competing, he leads learn-to-swim and pool safety clinics for children. These workshops are important to him. When he was 5-years-old, Jones almost drowned at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to the US Relay Swim Team. A special congratulations to Cullen Jones. You've made a notable achievement to God, Country and African American people, many whose decedents have unselfishly sacrificed so much so that you (Jones and so many other Americans and other freedom loving people) could have the opportunity to compete on behalf of the USA (or their own respected countries).
It reminded me of the great accomplishment of Jesse Owens in the 1930's in Germany before Hitler. All of you on the team should feel good about what you've done. God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ!
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord!"
