Dear Help Me Howard:

I was quite touched with your story about Frank G from Brooklyn, who is in need of a living donor kidney transplant. I have full knowledge of what it means to "live" with the effects of kidney disease and the trials of dialysis. About 2.5 years ago my Dad was diagnosed with failed kidneys and required dialysis 3x a week to continue living. Although he was employed and only 59 years old, dialysis had to be instituted to save his life, while also awaiting for a kidney transplant. It is an ordeal to wake up and realize that someone you love is in need of an organ, which may never be found, but you continue to help them through what they are going through by whatever means you know how. I wake up everyday hoping that today will be the day that my Dad gets a call that a donor has been found. Help Me Howard please continue to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, especially kidney organs, since so many people live with Kidney disease and by sheer kindness of others more people may live long healthy lives.
