Broadway's Cheyenne Jackson Is Not Afraid To Take The Plunge For Stardom

Broadway star Cheyenne Jackson is wearing pin stripes this summer for his role as Joe Hardy in Damn Yankees. His co-stars include Jane Krakowski (30 Rock), Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) and Ana Gasteyer (Saturday Night Live).

"Damn Yankees is the story of Joe Boyd, the ultimate baseball fan, who sells his soul to the Devil (Sean Hayes) for the chance to help his team, the Washington Senators, win the pennant race against the Yankees. The Devil is aided by the sexy Lola (Jane Krakowski), who seduces Joe, but ultimately helps him outsmart the Devil and return to his beloved wife," according to The New York Theatre Guide.

Jackson is no stranger to the Broadway stage. This Washington native has been in Aida, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Rocky Horror Show and Hair, to name a few.

Currently, he is starring in Xanadu, a musical based on the 1980 Olivia Newton-John movie of the same name. He plays Sonny, a struggling artist on rollerskates who strives to create his public art work masterpiece -- a roller disco. Jackson is taking a one month haitus from Xanadu in order to star in Damn Yankees.

"I've fallen a couple of times. They say that you haven't been inducted into the Xanadu family until you've fallen live on stage -- and I have," Jackson said to the CW11's Emily Frances. "But you just have to own it and the audience is all gasps and says 'Ohh!' and you have to get up as gracefully -- or not -- as you can."

For tickets to see Damn Yankees, City Center is located in Manhattan at West 55th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. For tickets, priced $25-$110, call (212) 581-1212 or visit www.nycitycenter.org.
