Singer Ashanti Proud to Be Long Island Native

Ashanti is participating in an event called βThe Island Next Door,β which aims to promote her native Nassau County as a true vacation destination with great attractions.
Later today, she'll be named the Ambassador of Music and Nightlife for Nassau County, and will help wish Bon Voyage to four unsuspecting families that will be given the trip of a lifetime to Nassau County.

This 27-year-old is from Glen Cove, Long Island and had her big break in 2002 with her self-titled debut album. Her early Billboard Top 100 songs include "Foolish" and "Always On Time" Last month, Ashanti released her fourth album, The Declaration, and it is clear that she is still riding her wave of success.
Ashanti's talents also extend into acting. She has had roles in the movies John Tucker Must Die (2006) and Resident Evil: Extinction (2007).
