Pulled Pork, Ribs, Brisket: The Day The Best BBQ In The World Came To NYC!
My grandfather, the Italian chef that he was, once told me that you should never trust a skinny chef, and if you go by his rule, this weekend saw some of the most trustworthy BBQ pitmasters in the world converge on Madison Square Park. At an event that weighs out the BBQ'd meat in the tons, one can also weigh out the pitmasters in tons as well, and they'll be the first folks to tell you that it's all the better to know their BBQ with.
The 6th Annual Snapple Big Apple BBQ Block Party wasn't the only thing making NYC sizzle this weekend, but for those willing to brave the heat, the payoff was gigantic: lip-smacking pulled pork, heavenly ribs, brisket and bucketloads of BBQ sides & desserts from all over this great United States of ours - and the styles were as numerous as the pitmasters, Kansas City, St. louis, Texas, Memphis - the list goes on.
