Luck for Friday the 13th:

Published just in time for Friday the 13th, LUCK: The Essential Guide is the first book to arm readers with everything they need to know about getting lucky, staying lucky, and avoiding bad luck at every turn.

Written by Deborah Aaronson and Kevin Kwan, trustees of the Society for Fortuitous Events, LUCK: The Essential Guide is a fun and stylish compendium of facts, lore, and beliefs about luck—as well as an instruction manual for bringing more good fortune into the reader’s life, including how to navigate the perilous waters of Friday, June 13th, the unluckiest day of the year.

MORE AFTER THE JUMP...

LUCK: THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE HELPS READERS ESCAPE FRIDAY, JUNE 13, UNSCATHED:
• Learn why this day is considered unlucky (see the black Unlucky section, pg. 25).
• Find out five ways to guarantee good luck on this unlucky day:
° Wear red underwear (pg. 54).
° Start the day off on the right foot, literally (pg. 74).
° Take a tip from a sailor and get a lucky tattoo (pgs. 51 & 245).
° Make sure to eat a meal with lots of garlic today (pg. 98)—and wash it down with a lucky cocktail (pg. 94).
° Ward off bad cyber-luck by performing an e-sacrifice on your computer (pg. 188).
• Discover five strategies to avoid misfortune:
° Don’t wear anything green, the unluckiest color (see the black Unlucky section, pg. 11).
° Avoid any work or social events that might involve a total of 13 attendees (see the black Unlucky section, pg. 25).
° Watch the sidewalk—a small stumble, or stepping on a crack, is sure to turn the day from bad to worse (see the black Unlucky section, pgs. 21 & 22).
° Avoid the temptation to tidy up today: brooms should not be handled under any circumstances (see the black Unlucky section, pg. 6).
° Be sure not to begin anything new today—a new job, a new project, get a new haircut, or even open a new box of cereal (pg. 235).

Deborah Aaronson just appeared on your program and she made me laugh aloud at her ignorance when she said we should avoid black cats today as they are considered unlucky. I wonder if Ms. Aaronson thinks we shouldn't feed our black cats today either; or perhaps we should just run over our black cats in our lucky red car whilst wearing our lucky red underwear. My black cat just declared this day "Avoid Deborah Aaronson Day" and since he's smarter than she is I'm celebrating along with him. Happy Avoid Deborah Aaronson Day!

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN,

WHEN THE SEGMENT WAS ALMOST OVER, YOU HAD A TABLE WITH ITEMS THAT REPRESENT GOOD LUCK. YOU HAD A PIG ON THAT TABLE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE TO BUY IT, FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER LOVES PIGS.

IF YOU COULD GET ME THIS INFORMATION, I WOULD APPRECIATE VERY MUCH.

I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE MORNING NEWS FOR YEARS NOW BEFORE I GO TO WORK. SOMETIMES I CANNOT GET OUT OF MY APARTMENT FOR I WANT TO LISTEN AND WATCH WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO OR SAY.

ALSO, I REALLY LIKE LINDA CHURCH'S WARDROBE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY THE TOPS SHE WEARS. SHE HAS GREAT TASTE IN CLOTHES.

BEST REGARDS,
LINDA SCHANTZ
