Guinness Book Of Records For Gamers

The gaming world has come out in droves to embrace the new Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2008. In order to celebrate the launch of the inaugural edition of the book, three record-breaking events were held to name new records for some of the world's most popular games.

First everyone watched in awe as Rochester, Minnesota's Chris Chike, one of the best "Guitar Hero" players in the world, used his amazing skills to set the mark for the "Highest Score for a Single Song on Guitar Hero® III: Legends of Rock," with an astonishing 880,920 points (a 97% completion on Expert Level) for the song "Through the Fire and Flames" by DragonForce. Then 12 year-old Wylan McEvoy, swung for the fences on the new "MLB 2K8" Home Run Derby to claim records for "Most Home Runs In A 10-Out Home Run Derby," "Most Consecutive Homeruns Without A Out" with 51 and 18 respectively. Finally 80 fans in the UK showed up in full force at the Millennium Bridge in London, dressed as their favorite video game characters, for the "Largest Meeting of Costumed Characters."

"These three events are all testaments to the strong gaming spirit that inspired us to create a gaming annual in the first place," said Keith Pullin, editor of the Gamers Edition. The achievements of Chris, Wylan and all of the great fans in the UK are perfect examples of what Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition will represent in the future."
