Long Island health officials are warning about a recent case of typhoid fever.
They say anyone who ate at mama Sbarro's restaurant in Hicksville between March 14 and 16 may have been exposed to the potentially deadly bacterial infection. A food handler for the eatery was diagnosed with typhoid fever and is being treated. The infection is usually passed by eating food or drinking water containing infected feces or urine.

And, cloned embryonic cells are showing signs of success in the fight against Parkinson’s Disease. Scientists say studies in mice indicate cloned cells work better than any other in providing personal, tailor-made medical treatments. Parkinson's is an incurable fatal illness caused by the destruction of brain cells.

And, there's a new food safety warning about cantaloupes. The FDA is telling consumers to throw away melons from a Honduran manufacturer believed to be linked to a salmonella outbreak. The fruit comes from Agro-Pecuria Monte-Libano. So far, 50 people have gotten sick in 16 states... Including New York.
