Get More Beautiful While You Sleep

skin0327.jpg

You’re used to getting a lot done, right? Now, your beauty products can work overtime, too. There are all sorts of special new nighttime products that you can use tonight—to wake up more beautiful tomorrow morning!

The editors of Family Circle Magazine share their tips for waking up beautiful:
(1) EXFOLIATE ALLOVER
Start your nighttime beauty routine by exfoliating—if you scrub at night, you avoid exposing fresh skin cells to UV rays and you still wake up looking fresh. Wei East Pomegranate Exfoliating Grains can be added to any cleanser to help slough away dead cells.
($26 for 24 packs, HSN.com)

(2) MOISTURIZE
Next, apply a moisturizer that contains added nighttime benefits. Since SPF is a must for daytime, look for an ingredient that helps to un-do the damaging effects of the sun. Olay Definity Night Restorative Sleep Cream contains niacinamide, which helps reduce discoloration, dullness and wrinkles.
($25, Drugstores)

(3) TAME REDNESS
If you have sensitive skin, you’ll want to use something that tames redness—so you wake up fresh-faced, not ruddy. Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Night Crème contains licorice extract, which calms inflammation.
($14.99, Drugstores)

(4) REPAIR HAIR
Believe it or not, there are night creams for your hair now, too. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Overnight Repair Formula is a light serum that you apply before bed to heal everything from over-processed hair to split ends—and the best part is, it absorbs instantly, so you can lie down on any cotton or silk pillowcase and immediately without worries.
($9.99, Drugstores)

(5) TLC FOR LIPS
Nighttime is also the best time to give some extra TLC to your lips. During the day, you wear glosses, balms and lipstick, which can be drying, so at night, give your kisser an extra dose of moisture with Bourjois Night Repair Balm. It contains creamy emollients that last well into the next day.
($10.50, Sephora)

(6) TAKE CARE OF TEETH, TOO
There are even special nighttime products for teeth. If you’re going to add one extra step into your routine at night, rinse with Crest Pro-Health Night Oral Rinse—it kills 99% of germs before bed, plus contains calming chamomile to help bring on the zzz’s.
($5, Drugstores)

(7) WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO TO HELP BRING ON THE ZZZ’s?
Look for a body moisturizer that contains naturally relaxing ingredients, such as Neutrogena Relaxing Overnight Body Cream. It uses calming lavender and chamomile, which are known to relax and de-stress.
($8.57, Drugstores)

(8) Keep a pillow spray by your bed! Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Sleep Pillow Mist also contains calming ingredients, including vanilla, which helps quiet your brain’s stimulating alpha waves. No more tossing and turning!
($10, bathandbodyworks.com)

(9) ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KEEP BY MY BED?
Yes! I keep this by my bed and it works wonders healing dry skin by morning: Boots Wonderbalm. Just dab it over rough skin anywhere—cuticles, heels, kees, elbows—before bed, and wake up to soft, smooth skin.
($8.99, Target)

This is a terrific feature. I'll definitely give some of the products a try. It would be nice, however, if there were a link that would allow you to print a portable version of the feature, making it easier to take to the store.

There have been reports that Crest ProHealth Mouthwash can leave brown spots on your teeth. I first learned of this a few weeks ago, so was surprised to see it on the morning news. Not a product that should be recommended to people...
