IF YOU HAVE A HOME REMEDY YOU WOULD LIKE DR. STEVE TO SUSS OUT, LEAVE A COMMENT BELOW OR CLICK HERE AND FILL OUT THE EMAIL FORM.

1. Fact or quack: Drink warm milk before bed to prevent insomnia.

That's a fact. Your mother was right, a little warm milk not only makes you feel good because the warm liquid relaxes you, but it also contains an amino acid called tryptophan which helps increase the levels of melatonin and serotonin in the brain, which helps you relax as well. Don't like warm milk? You can try oats, bananas, or yogurt. A nice bowl of cheerios with milk and a banana will also do the trick.

2. Fact or quack: Eat an apple to treat heartburn.

ANSWERS AFTER THE JUMP

This one is also a fact. It turns out eating an apple after a meal can also help ease heartburn. But don't expect a cure. The relief is only temporary. If you're having heartburn i suggest you see a doctor first to find out exactly what's causing the pain. Heartburn can be the sign of something more dangerous than just acid reflux. So it's definitely worth a trip to the doctor.

3. Fact or quack: Wash your hair with lime juice to cure dandruff.

A little lime juice rinsed through your hair as a last rinse can help with mild dandruff, but the key here is mild. Dandruff can be caused by a number of things: overgrowth of fungus, psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. Some of these conditions are particularly hard to treat, but if you just have mild flaking two teaspoons of lime juice rinsed through your hair at the end may be all you need it also leaves your hair smelling nice.
