French researchers say women who drink it may be protecting themselves from heart disease and stroke. According to a recent study, drinking tea was attributed to helping reduce the risk of artery-clogging plaque...

And older women who reported drinking at least three cups a day were less likely to have plaque in the carotid arteries in their neck than those who drank *less* tea.

And, hair samples may provide new opportunities in diagnosing breast cancer *without* invasive surgery. Scientists say when hair is exposed to x-rays, the radiation is diffracted in a distinctive pattern by the alpha-keratin that forms the hair. Researchers say they've used a new technique to evaluate the samples of hair from 13 patients diagnosed with breast cancer ... And 20 healthy subjects. But, they warn, more testing is necessary.

In today's fit for life... Scientists say obesity could soon surpass smoking as the number one cancer killer in the US.

Obesity is currently blamed for about 14% of cancer deaths in men and 20% in women... Compared to 30% each for smoking.researchers say obesity is linked to a variety of cancers... Including breast, colorectal, liver, pancreas and gallbladder.

And, the flu season is getting worse. Researchers say this is partly because the flu vaccine doesn't guard against most of the current flu bugs. The CDC reports that the vaccine is only effective against roughly 40% of the circulating strains. In a 'good' year the vaccine can fend off between 70% and 90% of them. But this year, infections from an unexpected strain have been booming.
