Get Ready: Here Come The Ground Troops!
There's a very simple rule when it comes to war, not only do we not know what we're doing, we have no idea what we're saying. POTUS has repeatedly said there will absolutely be no U.S. troops on the ground in Libya, but there are reports of small CIA teams in the country. What, those aren't "troops"? Or are they merely teams? As you can tell, I don't believe anything these folks ever say about anything. And you thought Bill Clinton was tricky with his "is" parsing.
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said last week that there would be no American ground troops in Libya "as long as I am in this job." Again, ground troops? What constitutes ground troops? Note also that Bob Gates is getting pretty sick and tired of this entire Libyan adventure. A real good hint was when he said said that Libya did not pose a threat to the United States before the U.S. began its military campaign against the North African country.[Source]
CBS reports that ground troops in Libya have in no wise been ruled out.
The United States may consider sending troops into Libya with a possible international ground force that could aid the rebels, according to the general who led the military mission until NATO took over.Army Gen. Carter Ham also told lawmakers Thursday that added American participation would not be ideal, and ground troops could erode the international coalition and make it more difficult to get Arab support for operations in Libya.
Ham said the operation was largely stalemated now and was more likely to remain that way since America has transferred control to NATO.
He said NATO has done an effective job in an increasingly complex combat situation. But he noted that, in a new tactic, Muammar Qaddafi's forces are making airstrikes more difficult by staging military forces and vehicles near civilian areas such as schools and mosques.
The use of an international ground force is a possible plan to bolster rebels fighting forces loyal to the Libyan leader, Ham said at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.
Asked if the U.S. would provide troops, Ham said, "I suspect there might be some consideration of that. My personal view at this point would be that that's probably not the ideal circumstance, again for the regional reaction that having American boots on the ground would entail."

Let's hear it for consistency.

Mr. Lebron,
I feel a sort of kindred soul to your attitudes except you are a lawyer and worked for a congressman! Well everybody makes mistakes in their youth. Aside from that I am in agreement with you on most of the stances I have heard you portray. I have never believed in the 60's phrase of freedom extends to just two inches away from my nose; so I do believe in marking and coding guns/weapons upon purchase.
Non cooperation in government by bureaucrats is nothing new because in order to rise above the many of the milieu "one has to give up their ethics and morals"! I'm not talking about first line supervisors or schlubs (workers) but the power that makes them move. I worked for several New York State agencies in my thirty year career and if you want an audit you ask the President to order it or fire the schmuck (jewel) in charge of the agency. You want better infrastructure than you hire you hire older engineers to work for the government to train younger engineers getting out of college and workers so you have a future cadre of people who know what they do for a living or make a WPA program again. You don’t hire contractors who have no interest in your welfare to work because they’ll let cranes fall, bridges fall apart or set fires and get lots of people killed. You want easy money put scanners and monitors on bottle machines and when the same people have hundreds of bottles each week; you have tax audits done on them if there are no receipts or better if they have no resident papers ship them back to their countries.
I like you and Greg Mocker he actually visited my friends Pete and Terry a few weeks ago with the parked car. Sure I’d vote for him but who’s backing him? You need 10,000 signatures for a ballot; right?
Anyway, good luck and fun listening to you. Alex
This is proof that you're wrong. If the president had taken you advise, then Bin Laden would have been alive today.
We needed this war to set example to people like Bin Laden that we're not afraid.
The men and women in the war choose to be there, no one forced them to signed up. We the tax payers are paying them and their family. It's like anyone, you're paid to do. No one force them.
So again, you need to investigate your topics in more details. So us proof then these men and women didn't signup for services or SHUT-UP.
Full support for the troops, they all want to be there in order to protect and serve for our country. This is an important war, and we all should be strong for this country. Bin Laden needed to be dealt with, as he did stand for an evil icon to many Americans for over a decade now.
Wonderful.
