Hubby and I share a cell phone. This is only because he loses them, or they wind up in the laundry. I can't tell you how many phones we have had. The number is outrageous!

I guess except for computer life, we are not really into the modern cell phone experience. Everywhere we go, people are talking on the phone. Who are they talking too - their spouses, their kids, their parents, their friends, who knows????

I went to a funeral mass recently, and an open pocketbook, gave way to a ridiculous message on a cell phone. It was callous and uncalled for.

I think it was more fun to find a pay phone on the street, and now you can't even find one.

My daughter got a blackberry. She loves it. My grandchildren have all kinds of small gadgets, and I have no idea what they are doing, except playing some games in the car.

Maybe I am old fashioned. I come from the days of stick ball and teased hair. Ah, the good old sixties.

Anyway, good luck with your phone. Everyone is taking pictures with them today. My local One hour photo store just went out of business.

There's a learning curve when it comes to anything new. Give yourself some time to learn how to use your new phone. If that doesn't work - you should go back to the store to tell the guy who helped you of your problems and see if he can change the one you just got to one that is similar to your old one. You should still be eligible for the trial period. Hope that helps!

My friend recently bought a new cell phone and half the time when I call him we get talking and then there's this dead silence and I have to call him back and he tells me he could hear me even though I couldn't hear him. At least with pay phones now you can plop in two quarters and get unlimited time provided you find one that hasn't been vandalized.

New phones today are very smart devices. Unfortunately, with all the gadgets worked in to them, they are also very confusing. Better use the old phone, until you can find a 13 yo to explain how best to use the device.

I’m not a fan of cell phones since I find them to be a way for people to disturb me when I really don’t want to be in addition to fact that I’m not too big on talking to other people via telephone (that’s why I prefer email). I personally find aging to be more amusing by thinking about it in relative terms and sometimes tell my friend Ted (who watches a lot of movies with me and is in his 40s; I’m in my 20s) how we’re getting to the same age that Jack Nicholson (who was born in 1937) was at when he starred in movies like Terms of Endearment (1983) or Batman (1989). Well how about you Kaity? Have you gotten yet to the age when Jack Nicholson starred in the movie Anger Management (2003) or when Ernest Borgnine (who was born in 1917 and another actor I like to do this with) starred in the first season of the hit TV Show Airwolf (1984)?

I saw the 1930's version of Beauty and the Beast recently. Also playing was MY FAVORITE WIFE, with Cary Grant.

These were originals. Not like some of the crap that is in the expensive movie theaters of today.

I also agree with you about cell phones. I don't like them, and think that they are an annoyance, more than they are helpful.

I also think it would be nice if Kaity started a blog about SEXY AFTER SIXTY.....or a website.

Well I hate to admit it but I don’t get TMC (my semi-friend/acquaintance John likes that station). My favorite black and white movie would probably be “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” (1939), but my all time favorite movie would have to be “Moscow on the Hudson” (1984). Not only does Kaity make a cameo appearance in that one, but it also has a nice love story to it in addition to having a pleasant patriotic theme behind it. There's also some female nudity in it.

Since you have a cell phone, I think you’re somewhat less technologically primitive than me. My friend Mike (who remembers watching Kaity when she worked for KCRA in Sacramento back in the 1970s) owns a cell phone that’s usually turned off. He’ll only turn it on to make a phone call. Maybe one day I’ll try something like that.

I saw that you didn’t post a comment for Kaity’s March 2, 2010 blog, so I’m not sure if you’re familiar with it. For that blog there is a link to the video where Kaity suggests starting her own website called “Sexy After Sixty,” but I get the impression that, based on how she said it, she was at best half joking about it (maybe she’ll chime in and straighten me out about that one). At any rate, if you hadn’t seen that video yet you should check it out. It is quite a delight to do so.

Believe me, I am a primitive cell phone user too.
I rarely dial the right number, because the numbers are too small. I hate those darn phones.

I especially get annoyed when I see everyone, everywhere talking on the phone. They are most annoying. Now everyone is texting everyone. To tell you the truth, I like my privacy, and I don't want to text, or be on the phone every minute of the day.

I did see the movie Moscow on the Hudson, but I don't remember all of it. I know that Robin Williams was in it (?). He came over from Russia and got involved with a girl here, but it
didn't work out. I don't remember Kaity's scene in the movie.

I love the old movies, especially the old horror movies. I am a big horror movie fan. Now in the days of the fifties, the horror movies were mild compared to today. You rarely saw any violence. They were not slasher movies.

I was lucky to find "Night of the Living Dead", the original one in a FYE Video Store. I also have many others.

I also like the love stories like Farewell to Arms, one of my favorites, with Rock Hudson, and
An Affair to Remember, with Cary Grant.

There are too many to mention here. I really enjoy the movies from 1930 till now. Some of those were real classics. I did purchase Gone with the Wind, Dr. Zhivago, etc. etc.

The only ones I don't have in my collection is the Godfather Series, because they are always on TV.

I don't remember Kaity before she was on Channel 11 news. I like Kaity. I think she is very professional.

I saw on an advertisement that Pix 11 is showing the 1942 movie The Pride of the Yankees starring Gary Cooper this weekend (both Saturday and Sunday). I don’t know about you, but I’ll make it a point to watch it.

I see you’re into the horror genre (during what we might call its golden years). I personally am a big fan of the Twilight Zone TV series (although the 1983 movie version of it wasn’t bad either). I find it to be an amusing mixture of both the science fiction and horror genre (and, unlike my friend Ted, I’m not really into the science fiction genre). Actually, my claim that it could be considered science fiction might be somewhat debatable.

Well there is no debating that Kaity was in the 1984 film Moscow on the Hudson. You are correct that Robin Williams is in it and that, during the middle of that film, his relationship with the character played by Maria Conchita Alonso does not work out. But they do get back together at the end of the movie and live happily ever after (or at least I’d like to think that they do).

I loved the Twilight Zone Series. I watched it all the time. I like horror and sci fi. I followed Star Trek when it was on years ago.

I love Gary Cooper. He looked like one of my uncles. I will try and catch PRIDE OF THE YANKEES.

Right now I am trying to follow TRUE BLOOD. It is on HBO. It is a little bit confusing, but interesting. Lately, they are putting many vampire shows on TV. I guess this is a popular thing right now - also werewolves.

At least these shows are not reality shows. I really don't like the reality shows. I would rather watch a soap opera.

Speaking of soaps, I like The Young and the Restless. My husband hates it. I make him watch it. He says that he can't stand the soaps.

Do you remember THE OUTER LIMITS? I use to watch that too, but I haven't seen any re-runs on of late.

On cablevision Channel 168 they have a CHILLER channel. Sometimes it is lame, so I don't bother with it.

A while back they had a horror movie station 777 and then cablevision decided that it was too expensive to run.

Well, I think that is a crock, because I certainly pay enough for cable.

Let’s talk about the Twilight Zone, shall we. There was one where two humans astronauts land on another planet and the indigenous species on their planet are about the size of bacteria by comparison. One of the two takes advantage of that fact while the other one does not. I’m not going to give away the ending of that one, just let me know if you saw it, okay. There’s also another good one where a guy is able to read other people’s thoughts by virtue of the fact that when he threw a coin, it landed on its side. Another good one was when crook died and initially thought that he was sent to heaven (now there’s one I can relate to). When you get a chance you should tell me some of your favorite ones, okay.

The Outer Limits I’m not familiar with. I’m generally not into horror entertainment material. I am a lot more into comedies, especially spoofs (I love the 1980 movie Airplane). Going back to horror films, are you familiar with the 1975 movie The Devil’s Rain starring Ernest Borgnine, William Shatner, and John Travolta? My friend Ted told me that he found that movie to be extremely scary (I never saw it so I can’t say).

But, it's those who drop the hint several days in advance of their upcoming birthday that I find annoying cuz they are the ones expecting something, in fact, feel deserving of some kind of GIFT. For what? Being born? They have already received the greatest gift... life.

I did see a show where the humans were the smaller species, and the alien was large, or vs versa. I kind of remember that the ending was interesting. I wasn't sure if I saw this on the Twilight Zone, or the Outer Limits. There was another one where a woman killed her husband with a leg of lamb, and the police ate the evidence. My mom and I got a real kick out of this one. There was another one where a man got locked in a vault and there was a nuclear war and he was nearsighted. He came out of his vault and broke his glasses, so he couldn't read all the books he wanted too. It seemed like these shows always had some kind of message.

I remember Rod Serling always starting his shows. Am I getting these two shows confused?

The Devils Rain sounds familiar, but I don't remember the story. I have seen so many horror movies over the years, that I can't recall all of them. I remember when I saw the first Freddy Kruger movie, Nightmare on Elm Street. I thought that was one of the scariest of them all.

Oh now I remember the story of 3 astronauts who came back to earth, and one by one they disappeared. That was a scary one.

When I was very young, I use to watch SHOCK THEATER on Saturday afternoons at 3 o'clock. I always wanted to see the Mummy pictures. They scared me to death. Funny thing is, you would never think I was the type of person who would like these type of films. Most of my friends won't go and see a horror film.

Funny thing is I have found a few friends, very quiet people who love the horror genre like I do.

It's a lot of fun to talk about....what is your favorite film? I liked the ones they made in the fifties and of course the earlier ones that left so much to the imagination.

I saw Zombieland on Sat. nite. It is campy, but cool. It is not really scary, actually, it was funny.

Now Bill Shatner played in one where he became a gambling fanatic. I'm not sure if this was the Outer Limits or Twilight Zone.

Maybe you can remember some of what I mentioned. I don't think I remember the one about the coin. I probably saw it, but again, I have seen most of them.

These shows can't compare to what's on TV today. There was nothing like the old writers. Today it's not the same....

Even though I would like to turn back time, this year my birthday was fun. Since my kids couldn't see me on my actual birthday, they took me out on different days. It was nice to see them and the grandkids.

They won't let me forget my birthday, or how old I am. There is no getting away from that.

I can definitely tell you that Rod Serling would always appear at the beginning of each show on the original version of the Twilight Zone. The episode where the guy is the only one who lives after that nuclear holocaust is a Twilight Zone episode. As for William Shatner, he starred in the Twilight Zone episode where he’s on a plane and he’s the only one that’s able to see the monster that’s destroying its wing. Also, you did remember the Twilight Zone episode on the robber who thinks he’s sent to heaven but is really sent to hell correctly (nice job there). And finally (as I said before), my favorite movie of all time is Moscow on the Hudson starring Robin Williams and Kaity Tong!

I never saw the movie or play Rent. I think that it features the music of Billy Joel, right? I like most of his music and when I get a chance I'll check it out. By the way, Billy Joel also wrote some piano compositions that sound similar to Chopin. You can hear some of them on his 2001 album Fantasies and Delusions.
