I'm A Reader, Too. Write Me.
Full disclosure. I love to write; I admit it. I always have and always will. And the fact is, if I didn’t love to write, I would never have gone into the news business. Writing is, after all, the foundation of virtually everything we do. And oftentimes, the best news organizations are the ones that can boast of having the best writers.
These days, there are more opportunities to read and write than there have ever been since Guttenberg’s Bible, and we have the Internet to thank for that. Of course, the printing press as well as the computer keyboard have been used to disseminate a lot of…excuse me, please….crap, but readership is the proverbial big tent; there’s a reader somewhere for every writer.
And there appears to be a substantial population of readers who are combing the vastness of the Internet for something enjoyable or informative to read. They’ve got a big search ahead of them; there’s a seemingly infinite amount of ‘stuff’ out there, waiting to be read. Most of it, at least to me, is a waste of both the writer’s and the reader’s time. After all, how consistently entertaining and informative can most writers be? It’s like expecting someone you know to be a scintillating conversationalist all the time. It’s a wonderful hope, but destined for disappointment.
A few months ago, I was listening to an NPR interview of a nationally-syndicated columnist who retired from column-writing. He explained he just didn’t have ‘that many opinions.” I thought “Bully on you! An honest man!” In truth, a columnist….or a blogger (today’s ubiquitous version of the traditional newspaper columnist) …can have only so many original things to say before he or she begins repeating himself.
Which brings us to this blog. I love putting my thoughts down on paper. Or in the Internet ether. But every writer wants an engaged readership. So tell me: what do you want to read of me? Share with me your interests, your ideas, your passions, and your suggestions. What subjects would you like me to address in my blogs?
Remember: I’m a reader, too.
So write me.

"What Would I Like Kaity Tong To Write About On Her Blog"? Hmmmmm,......
Short Answer; "Whatever she wants to write about!"
More Detailed Answer; Opinions on popular cultural things,(Which you DO, do),
Funny asides & behind the scenes things about the News business, (Which you also do),
Favorite entertainment things & why,..
More insights to you & your wonderful family,...
,.... and "Anything Else You'd Like To Write About!"
Don't think I'd ever get bored reading you, Kaity!
Hi Kaity,
All your blogs are enormously entertaining, and informative, and thought-provoking.
What I, and perhaps others, would like to know is how you came to choose your profession? What would you have done if you had not chosen your profession, or perhaps your profession chose you!
Some people have a gift for a particular profession and others have to really work at it. You obviously have a gift, a real talent for what you do.
People are advised to pursue what they love, but for some, it's not possible if they want to eat! And I love to eat. I wonder how many of your readers are doing what they love, or are they working in their jobs because somehow they just "fell into it" or have put their dreams aside?
Thanks for being a superb anchor and a super writer!
Lori
What are your political leanings? Your blog is refreshingly clear of politics but just wondering. We all know Jim's a liberal who wants to tax soda-pop but where do you stand? Honestly the 2-party system sucks but are you your traditional liberal msm'er? so far it doesn't show.
Kaity, I have said this before. I think you need to write your autobiography!
KT,
You're the blogger, would be helpful for us to know what your goals for this blog are.
Your loyal readers enjoy whatever you post. If you're looking to grow readership, Z-man's comment holds true. You're not political...yet.
Most blogs I read with a large amount of readers often focus on politics somewhat.
I think you have 2 great sources for articles:
1. You're in the news biz with tons of stories
2. You live in NYC where everday can be a story
Most importantly, you have a knack for making everything you share with us fun to read. ;-)
Hi Kaity,
I really liked your last blog (‘Be Grateful For Your Assets’), as well as the ones you had written on November 16th, 2009 (about your experience on the Acela train) and May 20th 2009 (about your abilities as a pianist). I did find, however, your blogs for February 27th, 2009 and March 31, 2009 to be rather bland (hopefully that’ll give you a sense of which types of blogs I’d like for you to write on in the future). But what I would really like for you to write on is a blog on what it was like to work with the late Roger Grimsby. Besides telling us how tall he was you can also tell us what his ‘assessment’ of you was. And I know that you can do it because I saw a Youtube video of a report that was done by CBS 2 news right after his death that you had appeared in.

Hi Kaity!
Please write about your first year being in the newsroom! and maybe the transition after college and into the "real world." I am an aspiring Journalist/reporter currently writing for my universities newspaper, The Torch at St. John's.
One day I hope to follow in your footsteps. You are an inspiration to me, and I would love to hear about your first encounters in the newsroom and in this profession. Write about a turning point in your career and how it impacted your life. I am interested to read and learn from you.
May you please share a few words of advice for college students currently pursuing a degree in journalism, broadcast or print media?
Thanks :)

Hi Kaity,
Perhaps you can write about the five or ten top things you've achieved in your life that gives you the most satisfaction, both personally and professionally.
I've watched you on the news and think you do an excellent job, and now I'm enjoying your blogs too.
Cheers, Alexa
Kaity, I think your news reporting is great. You bring reporting the news alive with the excitement that you show with each story. I would like to know more about you, your political views and religous affiliation. I also think you are the hottest and sexiest newscaster on TV. If there is a special person in your life, they are very lucky. Keep up the great job you are doing.
Kaity,
I'm going to miss my evenings with you.
But Larry's rantings just pushed me over the edge.
I can't watch a news program that gives this guy any legitimacy.
Kaity, I find you so interesting, smart, and funny that I want to know what you like reading. I'm an avid reader - especially of your blogs - but do you read books and if so what are some of your favorites? Hey, and thanks for caring about your viewers. This is very engaging. I love watching you. Can't wait to get an answer. You're the best anchor in New York. Probably anywhere in the country.

If you are not married. what i could do to get you to go out with me lol. You are great and i so much enjoy watching you deliver the news. Thanks Christian

I've been watching channel 11 news at 10 for years and I think that you and Jim are great. Lately I've been switching to another news source. It seems that channel 11 no longer has time for news. Between Larry's rants, Help me Howard, Cash giveaways, stories that are really just promos for other channel 11 shows, feature stories and reruns of old feature stories, especially on weekends, much of the important news seems to be relegated to a small still picture with a caption that flashes on the screen for a second or less. I can also do without the interviews with neighbors who explain that they didn't see anything and reporters standing in the street in front of a closed courthouse where something happened 6 hours ago. How about just reporting the news? I'd like to watch it on channel 11 again.

From the information which I have learned a lot, thank you! In the future I will come to learn!
during my Army days, I have to admit to a raised eyebrow with this as well.
I saw on the news that the money they dumped at Shire was fake, to represent the money he had raised.

Different people in all countries take the home loans from various banks, just because that is easy and fast.
This has been very helpful understanding a lot of things. I'm sure a lot of other people will agree with me.

In related news, a caddy found a golf ball at the end of the fairway that he claimed belonged to Tiger Woods because it had a picture of his mistress on it. When questioned about it, Tiger looked at the ball with the picture and replied, “Yeah, I hit that.”
