Fab Over Fifty
It’s a brand new website aimed at smart, stylish, independent women of a certain age. It’s called FabOverFifty.com and it had its official launch just a few days ago. To my surprise, I was asked to be the guest of honor. Now, I will admit that I hesitated. Let’s face it. There is a reluctance among folks in my industry,( and I’m talking about the men just as much as the women, if not more so!) to reveal too much personal information, especially age.

There’s a story on our news tonight about six New Jersey women who went to this quack doctor to get bigger butts, and ended up in the hospital. Why?
Because this unlicensed character injected their behinds (which were probably just fine to begin with) with silicone….the kind of silicone that is used to CAULK YOUR BATHTUBS! I am not kidding.
When Emily Frances reported on this during our 6:30 newscast, I introduced her by asking, tongue-in-cheek, “You mean to tell me that DIDN’T work out so well?!”

Full disclosure. I love to write; I admit it. I always have and always will. And the fact is, if I didn’t love to write, I would never have gone into the news business. Writing is, after all, the foundation of virtually everything we do. And oftentimes, the best news organizations are the ones that can boast of having the best writers.

Hi Natasha, In Answer To Your Question . . .
On March 10th, I wrote a blog, I’M A READER, TOO. SO WRITE ME. And you did! I loved the response, and the suggestions you made. So tonight, I thought I’d write a blog for Natasha, who tells me she’s an aspiring journalist/reporter writing for her university’s newspaper, The Torch at St. John’s, and is interested in my first year working in news.
Natasha, it all started by accident. I was trying to get my doctorate in Chinese and Japanese studies at Stanford University when I just decided, one dusty afternoon doing research in a dark carrel of Hoover Tower, that I needed a summer off. I needed to get out of that dark, dusty library carrel and just do something else. A summer job, perhaps.

Okay dear readers! Web interview alert! Web interview alert!
Yes, I had the pleasure of sitting down for another interview for the second time this month. A very funny and sharp young woman, Sherrina Navani, conducted the interview in our studios here on 42nd Street. She created this website, newyorkmothers.com, and it’s aimed at working New York minority moms. Even though my son is now grown, as all of you know, Sherinna still felt I was relevant to her website goals, and she asked some darn good questions.
Ari, In Answer to Your Question.....
What was it like to work with the late Roger Grimbsy?
Okay, I have a moment here, so I’m going to answer this question from one of my regular readers, Ari Minkov. Ari was quite blunt in stating that while he liked some of my topics, others, not so much. But, one subject that does interest him is what it was like to work with the great Roger Grimsby in the heyday of Channel Seven. I’ll give you an idea, by describing our first encounter.
