There Is Something Seriously Wrong With Me...

I know all of you noticed I wasn’t on the air last Thursday night. What, you didn’t notice? Well, let me tell you then. I wasn’t on the air last Thursday night. I got such a crazy allergy, I don’t know to what, that my face blew up, and there were red bumps and rashes all across both cheeks. Worse on the right side.

Now, I suppose I could have gone on the air, because, trust me, makeup artists can do miracles. But I really didn’t think even severe spackling was going to make THIS face look normal.

So, I called in sick. Explained my predicament to my boss, who kind of gasped and said something along the lines of…stay away!

Took myself to the doctor….enduring the pitying and/or alarmed looks of passersby as I tried to hail a cab. A couple of cabbies slid to a stop, took one look and slammed on the accelerator. And they weren’t even off-duty! I guess it looked bad. Never figured out exactly what caused my face to blow up into Oompah Loompah proportions, but the treatment seemed to settle it down.

I gotta tell ya. Allergies have been a big problem for me, since I was about nine. My dad had severe hay fever, so I guess I inherited that from him. Back in the day, we didn’t really have pills to take or shots to endure. We just suffered. I remember my eyes itching so badly that I would rub them till I flipped the upper lid back! I KNOW! Gruesome image. Sorry to inflict that on you. Erase it from your hard drive.

And I would scratch my skin to the point of bleeding. It was pure agony. Happily, it only hit me in the summer, for some reason. And we did try calamine creams and other homemade remedies to stop the itching.

But back to what I was talking about at the start of this posting. After three rash-free days, I woke up yesterday with my cheeks covered with little tiny red bumps. Again! Took myself to a different dermatologist, who told me no, not allergies. Adult acne!

Do I need this? I think not.

Kaity, Those cabs didn't stop for you last week because they read your blog & said, "There Goes That Pedicab Lady!"

"Adult Acne?!"

Now I think I understand those stunningly, lovely Tong youthful looks,..

I'm totally convinced you're "AGING BACKWARDS", & this is just an unfortunate side effect.

It's like "The Curious Case Of Kaity Button!"

(But, Seriously, Folks,...),

I certainly did miss you last Thursday, & I am sorry to hear about your allergies being so bad.

It seems like there should be SOMETHING in our modern world that would solve that problem easily once & for all.

I hope there are no more flare ups for you henceforth onward.

,... Now,.. about that picture of you in the attic,.....

Hi Kaity

Sorry you are not feeling well Kaity. I also suffer from allergies of late. Actually, as a kid I had them bad, and like your father, mine had hayfever too. When I was an adult, they went away, but this year, for some odd reason, I think there is something bad in the air.

As for adult acne, yes that can happen too. I never had it, but one of my children did, on the side of the face. My child had this malady. She got it from her father's side of the family. My side of the family has beautiful skin.

Maybe the nuclear reactors are acting up. Who knows.

I guess the little cigars I have been smoking don't help the throat either. I think I have been missing cigarettes, as I haven't smoked in years.

Should I say I am not a smoker. Not sure, but I know that smoking causes wrinkles and I don't have any now, so that's a good incentive NOT to puff and blow smoke. And anyway, cigarettes are much too expensive. A cigar once in awhile, really shouldn't hurt, except for the lingering smell.

Reminds me of my deceased uncle who sat in his big chair and smoked up a cigar storm.

Feel better dear and listen to this, when my father had an allergy attack, he would actually ask his neighbor to blow smoke up his nose to clear out his sinuses. Isn't that quirky!

I guess my family had its unusual moments. At least my father you could say was different *in more ways than one.

lol,

Lee

Is your skin problem manifesting because you are no longer interacting in the comments section of your blog with your regular readers like you did in the past? Hmmmm?

It's not as fun without your comments :-(

Okay kman, here I am interacting. Now let's see if my spots go away! :)
Thanks for all your nice and funny comments. Don't have the time to respond in every blog, but be assured I look forward to everything you post, and enjoy the remarks, tremendously! Better than any salve!
And Chuck, that picture in the attic is supposed to be our little secret. :)

I use witch hazel alot for the milder forms of these things. Don't get the acne much anymore but when I do for some reason the zit positions itself right between my eyebrows. Have alot of allergies mostly in the fall, hayfever or ragweed or something. Getting older in life now and I swear there's some days you just sneeze and crap all day. Jim was off last night and Chris Glorioso took over, what's up with that?

(With regards to the secret picture in the attic);

"DOH!"

Kaity,
i don't know what your skin care regiment is, but I hardly ever get acne besides the inevitable time of the month ones. I credit my good skin to my skin care regiment of cleanser, toner and moisturizer 2x a day. Could the make up the studio is using be causing your "outbreaks"? It wouldn't hurt to ask if the product are hypo allergenic.

Posted by kman at October 9, 2009 11:25 AM

Shucks, Kaity, I'm commentless. Ha Ha!

Posted by Lee at October 9, 2009 11:25 AM

I have beautiful skin, because, I have used Pond's skin products, since I was 17 years old.
Many decades later, my skin is as smooth, and wrinkle free. I get many comments on my skin. I feel like writing to Pond's and thanking them for my younger looking skin.

Now if only I could do something about my weight problem. Any ideas?

Have a great day!

Lee

Kaity, You always look wonderful and
your personality makes you even more
beautiful.
As for the adult acne, I had a couple pop
up in my 40s although I never had any
acne when I was young. Since then, I haven't
had any flare ups.
You likely just need more sleep (a luxury
for everyone these days) and lots of
liquids.
Keep up the great work on the news and on
the blog!
Kathy

I can relate to Adult Acne. Only peridoic breakouts, but in my late forties?!? I do have to be thankful that I did not have an acne problem in my teens, when it really mattered! :)

Hi Kaity,

Don't know re adult acne problem, but one day I ended up trying to suck juice and eat around the "mango pit" which I found out is poisonous. Next my face blew up, my lips touched my nose I definitely had a deformed look. Of course, I ran to the doctor who gave me medication. I never do that again. Were you eating mangoes??

We enjoy WPIX-News --You & Jim have very nice warm personalities.

Stay well and best regards,
Jean

Hello!

I am new to this forum to this forum! Thank you for the warm welcome...

This is actually the first time I EVER joined a forum. So excuse me if I am acting weird. I dont know the whole etiquette of forums yet;)

Let me share a bit about me:
I am Harry Collinsyoung. I studied antropology in London in the eighties. Wow what a time, but that besides this post.

I am a great addict of museums. ANY museum will get my blood flowing. But the museum that got my blood flowing most, was the sex museum I visited in Amsterdam last summes.

Esspecially their sexshop amsterdam made quite an impression on me (and my wife for that matter lol). The most impressive thing I saw was a voorbind dildo. Wow imagine them using that thing.

Well anyway I will keep you updated with my adventures!

See ya soon!

Harry
