Freaky Fishy Foot Fashion Fad
Okay, could not pass this one up. Story yesterday about a legislator wanting to ban ‘fish pedicures.’ I never even heard of such a thing before. Apparently, women put their crusty calloused feet into a bowl filled with tiny fish with teeth that literally eat away all that nasty skin around your toes! Hope you’re not having dinner while reading this.
It made me sick, too.
This just seems like a really bad idea….for everybody, including the fish. Is stinky dead skin off your feet really a good diet for fish? Are they starved so they’ll eat anything, so they just go for your toes, even though what they really want is a nice little plate of plankton? I feel really sorry for the fish.
And how many other feet were these fish nibbling before YOU put your tootsies in the water?
Their teeth are sharp enough to draw blood. Oh that’s good. You get rid of your callouses….AND bits of your feet. What‘s wrong, really, with the tried and true pumice stone?
I have trouble getting a normal pedicure, because my feet are ticklish. So the poor person trying to beautify my toes runs a serious risk of being kicked in the head every couple of minutes or so, as I jerk my foot back, giggling nervously. Because it tickles. But fish?
And I won’t even THINK about whether these fish are considered good eating after they’ve fattened up from nibbling callouses. Okay, I just made myself sick.

Choices for the fish are probably eat the toe jam or swim upstream in the American Standard. :-)

Better if those are meat eating fishes, and end up eat the heck of those feet off...
Actually, there are fishes that eat dirty stuffs, including the dirt from your body's rear.
However, there is no problem eating those when those grow up (not much meat when they are so small).
Hey, pigs in many place eat crappy food also, but people have no problem eating them afterward. Not many animals in the world are treated as well as the cows here, which got corns to eat, don't need to go for dirt.
I first became aware of this procedure months ago on The Today Show, as Hoda Kotb & Kathy Lee Gifford gave it a go live in studio. I originally had no problem with it at all,... until they zoomed in on a close-up of Kathy Lee's gnarly toes,... which immediately changed my point of view forever,...

Ugh, disgusting for sure Kaity. Piranah would eat your feet if you let them. Regular fish - I have fighter fish that probably have teeth and bite, but who sticks their hands in the water to find out. My poor fighter fish. One is dying. One is perky and I have them over 2 years.
I have enough trouble with pedicures. I just like the chair I sit in. It gives me a massage, so it is bearable.
