Day of the Living Ozomabies

Well, they were right, all those folks who said President Obama’s education speech would be an exercise in mass indoctrination if not downright mass hypnosis of our nation’s children. They warned us that this was step one in creating legions of liberal zombies—Ozomabies—ready to do the nefarious bidding of our radical chief executive, be it rolling grandma’s wheelchair to the senior extermination center, or doing community organizing.

What’s that? You didn’t hear any of that in the President’s speech today? Well, of course he wasn’t going to come right out and be specific about how he would turn his innocent listeners into extras from “Children of the Corn VII: The Liberal Agenda.” He said it all in code. Let’s break down a few of these so-called “harmless” sentences from this so-called “bland and inoffensive speech,” and see just how far down the road we are tonight to the creation of millions of new little democrats.

“How is everybody doing today?” (Applause.)
Right off the bat, a call/response drill aimed at forming mindless obedience to The Leader. He says, “how is everybody doing today?” they applaud. Next speech he says “let’s raise the national debt some more,” they say “how high?”

“When I was young, my family lived overseas. I lived in Indonesia for a few years.”
Here’s what he was really telling those children: “When I was BORN, my family lived overseas.” Admitting the birthers were right, and taunting them in front of our precious youngsters. Has the man no shame?

“..no matter what you want to do with your life, I guarantee that you'll need an education to do it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military?”
So what happened to that promise to not have anything about health care reform in the speech? The President of the United States names seven professions, and two of them are in the health care field. And “lawyer” was another one! If that’s not a push for socialized medicine and gigantic income-redistributing judgments against America’s great corporations, I don’t know what is.

“You'll need the insights and critical-thinking skills you gain in history and social studies to fight poverty and homelessness, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more fair and more free.”
Would that be a “war” on poverty our president is getting ready to start? Listen, kids, we adults have seen that movie already, and all we can say is, hide your piggy banks because the tax man going to be turning it over to the welfare man.

“So today, I want to ask all of you, what's your contribution going to be?”
See??

Fortunately, wise leaders in certain school districts, including some in Connecticut here in our own backyard, saw through the charade, and didn’t show it to their students. Thank God, they’re safe. But so many others aren’t. Tonight, parents, if your child was forced to watch this propaganda, hold them very, very closely and tell them everything is going to be okay. And keep a close eye on them in the days ahead. Especially if you live near a corn field.

Great post Jim, I totally agree with you here. It's just a partisan moral panic.

On a different note, when will you guys be done with the coffee bar temporary set? Can you post some photos of a tour of the new set?

I can't imagine anything more fitting and inspiring than having the President of the United States take time from running the nation to address school children and encourage them to live up to their potential! I can't stop laughing at the pathetic image of the ignorant mother crying that her children will be "brainwashed" that has been played over and over again!!! Totally moronic! Maybe the President should speak to these hapless folks as well!!!

LOL, a sarcastic article
Obama got an amazing skill in speech and PR, I will give him that, and it is not a bad thing.
I don't deny some people overacted, but I don't blame them, given Obama's radical socialist agenda, his track record from the moment he got into the seat, was not exactly good (or the poll won't fall so fast). End up Obama did stick with the message and didn't cross the line. Kudos for him on this.
Like always, I don't bash him blindly, I focus on the facts, and give him credit that he deserves (like sent out SEAL snipers to save the captain).
He is right about one thing, kids cannot do any big things when they grow up, no matter how smart they are, if they didn't finish their school homework. Good skills are from learning and practicing, not many people can get it right on their first try.

By the way, there are excellent teachers, caring parents and students who want to work hard, but there is the ultra liberal NEA's dead weight get in the way. This dead weight doesn't much care about the well being of students' learning process, instead they just focus on pushing liberal agendas like homosexuality and "safe sex" with little or no accountability from the public.
Also, what about school choice or school voucher? If Obama really cares about the students like he said, he should support some kind of school voucher program to let the parents the kids to have the choice to go to good schools, instead of have to play a lottery to try to get in. Of course, the NEA won't like this as it will hurt their interest.

I am not in school any more -- I am waaaay out of school -- but I have saved President Obama's speech as inspiration for myself. "... whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it." These are words of wisdom for everyone who wants to make a difference in his or her life, and in the life of our world.

Give me a break KC...Obama is not a "radical socialist" like you claim. If anything, he's just center-left. He's been entirely too forgiving towards the corporations, and if you take a look at his policies, they're FAR from being "socialist". As a democratic socialist (think Labour Party), I can assure you, Obama is not a socialist. Keep your tin foil hat on.

"Obama is not a "radical socialist" like you claim."
Unless you are living in a cave, most, if not all, of his policies are focus on disturbing the wealth, take (or rob) money from one group of people and give it to others trough taxation, not generating it.
"He's been entirely too forgiving towards the corporations"
too forgiving? Why corps need forgiveness for making money?

Back from vacation to read that script off the prompter, huh ?

why, hello, Anonymous.. I wondered if you'd be dropping in with your usual cheerful comments. Hope you had a nice summer.

Didn't have a problem with Obama's education speech at all but still feel he's a socialist of some stripe or at least some socialist subspecies (let me consult my field guide) so I think you can hold two contradictory positions at the same time. I'm going over to Kaity's blog now, at least she has some nude pix.

" 'He's been entirely too forgiving towards the corporations'

They need to stop putting the dollar before the welfare of the populous.

Right on, KC! How DARE Obama disturb the wealth! How rude of him!

How DARE he take (or rob) money from one group of people and give it to others trough taxation, not generating it. That Moslem pinko! Down with Obama and his Moslem Death Panels!

Thank god the Republicans rob money by generating it and not trough taxation, like the stinking Democratic communists.

"too forgiving? Why corps need forgiveness for making money?" KC, you idiot slut... My god, you're completely brainless.

KC, you're so stupid it's not even funny. Go jump in a trough and die.

People really need to stop being online jerks if they want to be treated serious and discuss serious issues. Bashing people or personal attacks won't help.

The concept of welfare state, or socialistic policies, failed miserably, just the politicians don't want to admit it, or afraid to offend certain group of people (aka PC). Welfare should be left to charities to do.
Yes, we need to take care of the needy, but not by the gov. Within the gov bureaucracy, there is no humanity or mercy, and give dignity to the needy, everyone is nothing but a number. And don't even go to the unavoidable gov waste, huge waste since there is rarely an effective accountability.
This also gives people an idea that whatever happened, the gov will take care of it, so people stop taking responsibilities in their life and expect the gov to take care of them. You know, there is "free" money from the gov anyway, why do more?

Posted by KC at September 9, 2009 10:07 PM

by the way, I want to know something.
If you people love the gov's way to do business so much, when is the last time you look forward to go to the DMV, or the postal office, or the dept of xyz to do your business??? And why do you think the word "bureaucracy" is so infamous?
I didn't think so.

There are nude pix on Kaity's blog??

KC, maybe people will stop feeling the urge to bash you when YOU learn to stop behaving like a jerk with your constant bullcrap about "liberals" and "socialist policies" and all that other republican nonsense. This is not a place for you to endlessly spout republican propaganda; this is Jim's blog. If you want to promote the failed republican policies, go start your own blog.

I love this crap: "Welfare should be left to charities to do ... Yes, we need to take care of the needy, but not by the gov."

When? When will this ever get done, unless it's done now? The Republicans have been in power cotinually since 1980 (with the exception of the Clinton presidency) -- what's been done to eradicate poverty?

Americans should be ashamed of themselves, and especially ashamed of fools like you.

One of a plus-sized chick some women's mag ran Jim discussion being do models have to be a certain shape? Not to steer clear of the discussion here but I do think there should be certain standards.

Man...
I am said it a million times, I ain't a Reps. In fact, I don't really like the Reps (as the whole party) as they largely forsaken their conservative principle.
I am talking about common sense that people just don't want to face.
To end poverty is important, but I think it is naive to think that snap a magic finger would solve the whole problem. Poverty is a complicated problem, and shouldn't not be blamed solely on a person, or a group, or the gov.
My point is always this. People keep having a concept of the gov is the solution, so we expected the gov to solve all the problems, or it is not doing its job. Guess what, the objective outcome is, gov have more power to do harm than good. Whether a situation a gov get a hand on, it mostly like get worse. It should be left to the local community to do the job, not the gov on the top.
Again, why do you think "gov bureaucracy" is so infamous?? And when is the last time you love to go to the DMV?? And why is USPS having a huge deficit now while UPS and Fedex is doing fine? NO ONE seems to able to answer these question so far.
The founding fathers knew this concept pretty well, that's why they made the 10th amendment.
Don't argue on this just on ideology, what the liberal medias told you (or not told you), argue this on facts. By the way, I know this is Jim's blog, but someone else has to push all these non sense, so don't blame me when I present the facts.
