Congressman Wilson's War

I’ve finally sorted through my feelings about last night’s heckling of President Obama during last night’s health care speech to Congress and the nation. South Carolina Congressman Joe Wilson, as you’ve no doubt heard by now, shouted out “you lie” when the president said his bill would not “insure illegal immigrants.”
Like millions of others, I was pretty horrified when it happened. Congress hasn’t always been completely polite when Presidents come to speak (as you can read about here http://www.slate.com/id/2227966/), but one congressman shouting out one of the worst political insults possible during a nationally televised address? A line was definitely crossed.
But as I got ready to write this blog entry about how awful it was, and what a bad guy Congressman Wilson would have to be to do such a thing, I started feeling something different, something to help me move away from this summer of discontent and anger over health care reform, and hate-filled town hall meetings, and misunderstandings and bitter partisanship: I began to feel real compassion toward Congressman Wilson.
That’s right, compassion. I feel sorry for the guy. I think to do what he did, he’s extremely disoriented by what’s been coming down politically in the country for the past year. Disoriented to the point that he’d slander the duly elected Commander-in-Chief with the entire nation watching (not to mention in the face of the facts; the various versions of the bills are clear that illegal immigrants would not be eligible to be insured, although many Republicans are unhappy about the lack of a mechanism to enforce this).
It reminded me of the scenario of a rowdy office Christmas party, where the long-suffering middle manager who just missed another promotion gets liquored up and decides to tell the boss what he really thinks about him. I’d feel sorry for that guy, too, but that wouldn’t help him as he’s making his way to human resources the following Monday morning. Calling President Obama a liar as the whole world watched wasn’t bold or impetuous or ennobling; it was just sad, and I’m sad for Joe Wilson that he made such a sorry choice.

Yes, this "right wing nutjob" is here again. But I am not here to argue ideologies until my face turn read, I am to to point some simple facts and common sense.
While the action may be wrong, the message is right - Obama lies. And this time he did what many people want to do but can't - say right out that Obama and the Dems lie right from their mouth and accuse others of "misinformation".
The health care reform DOES support abortion and PP (when you take away all the word games and technicalities). And even though the bill says to prohibit the Obamacare to the illegals, it doesn't require the applicants to prove their status, which makes the prohibition mean nothing.
Just like you said, "the various versions of the bills are clear that illegal immigrants would not be eligible to be insured, although many Republicans are unhappy about the lack of a mechanism to enforce this"
Question: what is the point of have some policies, but have no mechanism to enforce them? It is like, have a new laws that anyone who throw trash on the street with be given a death sentence would mean nothing if no one is going to enforce the law. Are our lawmakers idiotic like this?
Some good Reps propose amendment to require the prove of status, but was stroke down, said by the Dems that it require too much work...
Don't forget, for any illegal to enjoy the "free" service, YOU are paying for it, big time.
Well, Jim, you're a bigger man than I -- I feel absolutely no compassion whatsoever for Joe Wilson. I'm just so sick of these arrogant, lying Republican traitors. They are destroying the country with their lies and idiotic policies.
I'm sure you've heard about the married Republican assemblyman from California (I think) who was caught talkng on a live microphone about spanking a female lobbyist -- doesn't the Republican Party pretend to stand for family values? I hate 'em all.
And I wonder why every time this kind of moment happened, medias would largely focus on the "misbehaved" one, instead of focus on what's really important - the bill, what is it really about. Why would Joe say Obama lies? What is the different between what Obama said in his speech and what the bill actually said. No one seems to be interested in this besides all the bashing.
And this, mister, is not a responsible journalism work. A responsible journalism is to report what is important, not just focusing on those who is not on your (or your boss') side.
Welcome Back, KrayZee, I mean, KC.
I see you're back to your same old bu!!s#!+:
"...Obama lies. And this time he did what many people want to do but can't - say right out that Obama and the Dems lie right from their mouth and accuse others of 'misinformation'."
And Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rover, and the rest of the Republicans lie, and get us into Iraq. If you love Bush & the Republican Party so much, then why don't you go fight in Iraq, or send your children to go fight there?
Oh, I think I know why: Because you're a cowardly hypocrite. You'll start unnecessary wars for others to fight, but you'll never go fight yourself, not in a million years, you Big P.
And why can't you write a single sentence without making so many major mistakes? Are you illiterate? Are you a complete moron? Is English your first language? What the hell is wrong with you? You fanatical Republican Conservative morons just don't know how stupid you all are. You try to act like you're some kind of know-it-all genius, yet you cannot even write a decent sentence if your life depended on it.
"But I am not here to argue ideologies until my face turn read, I am to to point some simple facts and common sense."
(until my face turns READ. ...TO TO...)
"say right out that Obama and the Dems lie right from their mouth and accuse others of 'misinformation'."
Obama might "lie from his mouth," but at least he doesn't talk out of his ass like you & your beloved Republicans do. (By the way, genius, where should he lie from, if not from his mouth?)
"And even though the bill says to prohibit the Obamacare to the illegals..."
Very well put, Longfellow.
"what is the point of have some policies..."
I couldn't have said it better. You're a poet of the highest odor. I mean, order.
"It is like, have a new laws that anyone who throw trash on the street with be given a death sentence would mean nothing if no one is going to enforce the law."
What can I say? You're a true wordsmith.
"Are our lawmakers idiotic like this?"
Yes, they are idiotic like this. And so are you.
"Some good Reps propose amendment to require the prove of status, but was stroke down, said by the Dems that it require too much work..."
You sure do have a way with words, Shakespeare.
Have you ever attended school? Have you ever read a book?
again and again...
1. bashing and get personal won't help your arguments, give out facts.
2. I ain't a Republican, nor I like the party, nor I agree with everything they said or did. GOP doesn't speak for me, and I don't condone any wrongdoings from them either, period.
This is going to be the last time I response of these points, no sense to repeat over and over when people don't want to listen.
And, by the way, tomorrow is the 8th anniversary of 9/11, be thankful there was not major attacks on US since 2001 that many people take for granted (especially for those who think we should be nicer to terrorists).
My hat off for those servicemen on board or overseas to keep us safe (but beware of some politicians or activists on board who want to stab you behind your back).
Rosie you were the best thing to happen to "The View", too bad they ain't that big on free speech over there. My only problem with Wilson is I would have reserved the lie part to when Obama said "this will not add one dime to the deficit." What a BS artist! Wasn't the crime of the century but lest we forget how libs felt about Bush hey Rosie?
I think you are too kind, Jim. It was rude and so disrespectful. I get your point though. Politicians all lie, we know that. It's part of the job. I am glad while I was still here, I was able to help elect a man I believe to be good, kind and caring. I am glad I got to see that before I go... Hey Rosie
Hi, Barb!
Hey, Z-man -- you know how I feel about bush; it's GEROGE W. BUSH that I dislike so much.
And KC, what can I say? You never answer the important questions, like:
Where were you born? How old are you? Have you ever attended school of any kind? Is English your first language? Why can't you write a decent sentence, EVER?
Keep being a jerk, and I just might go over there and sit on you.
P.S. Yes, in case you noticed, I prefer to use the "Geroge" spelling over the more traditional "George."
I like that spelling better. Seems to fit ;)
YOU should be the new judge on Idol Rosie not Ellen. Here's where I come down on "The View" and your departure. TV is so damn boring, I'm bored out of my skull most times it's like prison boredom and I don't care what the topic is (in your case 9/11) as long as it's interesting. I'm not a "truther" by any stretch, I just want stimulating TV. I knew there was a carpetmunching joke coming up, I could just feel it.

The person above who signed him- or her- or itself as "Rosie" and who included those links is not me. That person is a cheap imposter. Better watch your back -- if I catch you, I will sit on you.
Anyway, thank you both, Barb and Z-man.
Yes, Z: not to sound immodest here, but I think I'm way better than that Ellen, if I do say so myself. In fact, I could eat her under the table, and I just might, although I'd really prefer Paula or Kara.
Figured that, Rosie. Hey, know 303?
Figured that, Rosie. Hey, know 303?
No, Barb -- Don't know 303 (the only 303 I know is my weight)... What's 303? Tell me! Don't keep a dummy in suspense!
In p town right now. 303 is a place I thought you'd know. Maybe you're not in the area anymore.
Have a good one, Rosie ;)
