Term Limit Teasing With Mayor Mike

No matter which local station you were watching to get your news last night, you probably saw part of a City Hall news conference held by Mayor Bloomberg. That’s because behind the mayor were standing news anchors from EVERY station. The idea was to get the word out even more about the looming deadline for the federally-mandated switch to digital television. (That deadline was February 17th at the time of the news conference, but Congress later in the day pushed it back four months).
(CORRECTION!! 4:30 PM Jan 28 WHEN I WROTE THAT, ONLY THE SENATE HAD APPROVED THE DELAY, BUT THE HOUSE DEFEATED IT TODAY.. THE DEADLINE REMAINS FEB 17TH)
I was sent to City Hall representing PIX. I thought it was a little ironic that all these anchors were joining Bloomberg to talk about a deadline, when, as we all know, the mayor was quite averse to a certain deadline he himself was recently facing. So this is me at the news conference, trying to take on both issues at once.
That’ll teach him to have news people his side of the microphone!

Very funny, Jim. Nice job!
And this is your 15 minutes of fame?
Jim,
You are the champion of the city! You rock and you have one wicked sense of humor!
Jim that was GREAT!!!! Please do me a favor. Stick it to that arrogant prick any time you can. I would if I could. Thank you sooooo much.!!!
Now I don't have a problem with the TV changing over, but some people cannot afford the cablevision, direct TV, etc. The portable TV's of yesteryear will be gone, and everything will have to be attached to something. It seems somewhat annoying. I guess it's just modern technology. Actually, Jim, is this really newsworthy/or is the election news starting to get to you too.
Cute, I was waiting for a clip of that conference to surface, I was like... Jim's hair looks like that? And then shift to the news, it's all perfectly coiffed.
As one of those unlucky people who was still utilizing the rabbit ear antennas, getting a coupon to get the box wasn't so bad. It's a good gesture from the government to offer the coupons (as if taxpayers didn't pay for it ultimately anyway... so there really shouldn't be any thanking the govt... thank you for you taking money from me? Anyway--), however the process of doing so, and the garbage around "expiration dates" and how people cannot get replacements for cards lost in the mail was ridiculous! Apparently it costs the government more money to print them out and they didn't have any money allocated to the chance that coupons may get lost in the mail... like every other thing that gets sent.
Anyway, good plan, just horrible implementation. This new deadline still doesn't help people who still cannot get coupons if the government doesn't address that issue in addition to the date push.
Jim,
Now THAT was keepin' it real! You are even more amazing when you don't have a script to read. That was sick.(good sick, but you knew that). And secretly, I bet the mayor now knows you are as smart as he is....as well as taller and better looking. Most cool, you are.
-Laurie from Jersey
Jim you are so cute ! I love the part about "there is nothing anybody can do about it". Love it !!
I watch Pix 11 every night. You are great !!
A well-publicized government program that has been in place for three years, complete with funding shortfalls, administrative breakdowns and a deadline missed by millions of consumers - wow, what a surprise! Now just watch, as that June 12 extension comes, and passes, and is extended again, and again, and again....... I only wish my teachers had been as generous with due dates on my reports.
And now to Mayor Bloombucks and his quest for an illegitimate third term. Putting it nicely, I'll just say that he expectorated in the faces of voters who chose term limits twice, with the hope that we would open our umbrellas and declare, "Hey, it must be raining". And he will not lose any of his billions betting on IQ's being low enough to produce that reaction.
THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CORRUPTION IN THE WEALTHY AND IN THE GREEDY IS IN WHETHER THE FAVORS ARE BOUGHT OR SOLD.
Don't worry Mike, The House rejected the delay.

Thanks for the link, Mel. It'll probably pass eventually. I'm OK with delay, or no delay, but just annoyed with the ineptness behind the extension. (which you covered well) Let's you and I try taking an extra 4 months for income tax owed and see how easy-going THIS "teacher" is!
Agreed, Mike. We'll have to cross that bridge when it comes up.
I love the expression Mayor Bloombucks. Didn't he ride his bicycle to work to show us common folk that he is a regular guy? Still and all, he has plenty of money to throw around. My personal favorite mayor *for a laugh of two, was Mayor Koch. He stood on bridges and asked people "am I doing a good job". Quirky...Lee

PS: Don't remind me about taxes, I just survived Christmas!!!! I just stopped buying dead stocks for the kiddies, oh yeah...
I see that Ernie is standing behind you at that conference, or meeting of the minds, so to speak.
Does that guy ever take his makeup off? I saw him at the airport last year and he was in full *drag...
Is that a girl standing behind J.Watkins, or is it
ERNIE? I laughed so hard, I almost dropped.I know you guys wear makeup, but he looks sun dipped.
Is that Ernie Anastes in the background or a tourism ad (I Love New York...) for the wax museum?
