Collapsing Home Gives Owner That Sinking Feeling - Pt. 2
A lot of questions still surround the case of Nathan Kerr and his Brooklyn House.
Last week we told you about his house, which is literally sinking beneath him.
His insurance carrier State Farm, sent engineers to dig a hole in the floor of Nathan's house to determine the cause of the rapid settlement. They said the builder used improper fill. That's why the structure is sinking. But so far, State Farm will not pay the claim nor will they pay to fill in the three foot hole their engineers left in Nathan's house.
In a written statement, State Farm Insurance had this to say:
"
Due to privacy issues, we cannot provide information regarding Mr. Kerr's claim. In general terms, State Farm conducts inspections of losses and makes claim decisions based on the coverage provided in the policy. Not all losses are covered by the homeowner's policy.".
Built in 2003, the house lists the previous owner as Rockstone Development. The listed owner was a Perry Payam Moradof, who now lives on Long Island. So Howard paid him a visit to try to get some answers. Unable to find him in person, Howard called him up.
Mr. Moradof told Howard that he hired a builder to build Nathan's house. While he admitted to being a member of "Rockstone Construction", it was the contractor, that Moradof hired, who actually built the house.
When Howard went in search of Moradof's "builder" in Queens, he again came up empty, as the man had either moved or just wasn't there.
So where does this leave Nathan? His house is still sinking and the hole is still there.
Today we heard from Nathan, who is planning to meet with a lawyer.
