Bad check freezes employee's bank account

Back in November 2009, Beverly Floyd was hired as a telemarketer for a Brooklyn debt settlement agency called "Debt Less USA". She was told she would making $10 an hour.

She was initially paid $100 upfront by her boss, because he said he liked her. Another two weeks passed, before she was to receive her first full paycheck and Beverly was expecting to see about $700 in that check. So she was very surprised when she got the check and it was only for $350. She accuses Debt Less USA of changing their agreement, so she quit.

Beverly told Howard, "I felt that if they couldn't give me my full pay for two weeks, why would I even trust and waste anymore of my time there? I wanted to cut it short, I was gonna accept the $350 even though they owed me $700 and just move on".

She may have thought her problems were over, but they were just beginning, because when she deposited the check, Debt Less USA had cancelled it. The check bounced, freezing her account just before the Christmas holiday.

Beverly says she tried reasoning with her former employers, without any luck, so she called Help Me Howard.

Howard and Beverly decided to pay a visit to Debt Less USA to hear their side of the story.
That's where they encountered "Alex", one of Beverly's former bosses. He accused Beverly of acting improperly when she left and demanded an apology. Howard stayed away from the blame game and kept to the point of paying Beverly for her services rendered.

After apologies all around and an autograph from Howard, Beverly finally had her "real" check.
