Get Your Kids Vaccinated For School

5:00AM | September 1, 2009 | comments: 2

Failure to keep immunizations up-to-date could result in your child not being able to attend school. This would be a disaster for a parent's work schedule and cause your child to fall behind in school.

To avoid that get your child's physical and eye exams done before the first week of school.

If your child will be participating in a sports activity, your family doctor may have to sign a release form giving the OK to participate.

Make sure you take the form with you to the doctor's office.

Contact your school in advance to find out exactly which vaccinations your child needs to have =before= you go to the doctor's office.

For more information on exactly which vaccinations your child should have by a certain age in New York go to the website for the New York City Department of New York Health and Mental Hygiene at www.health.state.ny.us.

My grandaughter is allergic to eggs. Are there any egg products in these shots? She got very sick from eating an egg, so we have to be careful that none of her foods have any egg products in them. My daughter is leary of all shots and makes sure that she spaces them out accordingly. She is particularly afraid of the scare about the shots causing Autism. You would be surprised how many food items do have some type of egg in them. My daughter found cookies that don't have any egg in them. She can't eat everything the other kids eat, even if she wants too. I am just hoping that she outgrows this problem. Thanks for listening Howard.

I am all for school vaccinations.
Keep the kids healthy and their families will be too.
