The term "bounty hunter" conjures up all sorts of images, but Ennis Johnson assures us he's made a real career out of it. So when Ennis ran into trouble collecting his money from the cops, he called "Help Me Howard."

Ennis and his partner caught a glimpse of the blotter section of the New York Post, advertising a reward for anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest and conviction of an alleged bank robber still on the loose. Kevin William Johnson was wanted by police for robbing an HSBC bank on August 2nd.

Ennis and his partner received a tip on Johnson's whereabouts, then narrowed in on their target. After pin-pointing Johnson's location, they called Crime Stoppers. "They gave us the go ahead to do it," Ennis said.

Ennis and his partner were able to tackle the alleged bank robber, and take him over to the 6th precinct. "We stayed up in the detectives room; we spoke to a few people. They couldn't give us anything, they couldn't give us a control number because they told them we were bounty hunters! And they started saying that bounty hunters can't do the job because we are under an agency... and that's why we couldn't get the reward."

Despite police reasoning, Ennis tells us he and his partner are not associated with an agency. But, once Howard called Crime Stoppers, officers there told us a different story:

A spokesperson says Ennis's partner was told by detectives not to make a move on the alleged perp until they heard from the major case squad. The day before the arrest, the police detective says Ennis's partner was not answering his phone. The day of the arrest, they were told again not to move on the alleged perp.

Due to Crime Stoppers' policy, Howard was unable to get Ennis the reward offered in exchange for their alleged bank robber. But Ennis gave Howard an interesting offer:

"You should come roll with me," Ennis told Howard. "I could definitely use someone like you on my team!"

I guess bounty hunting is a job, like any other, so why not get paid. It looks exciting on TV, but I'm sure it is hard work. I think anyone who does a legit job, should get their reward.

Arrest this guy for having a dupe shield, he is not law enforcement and that badge is illegal in ny. He looks like a perp to me.

Well, I believe that the officers in crime stoppers should have honored the reward claim, especially since the police were'nt able to capture the bank robber themselves. As for "joe" stop being a hater. People trying to clear the streets for YOUR safety, regardless of method or means, you should laud and applaud and NOT criticize. The collar was done legally and with professionalism, based on Howard's report!!!

Thanks for your opipnion Tia but I never said he did a bad job, Im just worried that these "bounty hunters" have shields that look similar to pd shields. People who have died wearing that shield earned them and were law enforcement, but here comes this guy who takes a 3 day course and has a detectives shield, come on be respectful and lawful.

Those cops split that money. Getting paid for somebody doing the work.
