It's Feel Good Friday...The Bronx!

What would you do if Channel 11 gave you $1,000 in cash?
Every Friday now is "Feel Good Friday," as Help Me Howard is giving away $1,000 to one very lucky person.
But there's a catch!
Tune into the PIX News At Ten every Friday night to find out what it is.
And be sure to go to our blog every Thursday night to find out what part of the tri-state area Howard's going to be giving away cash next.
This July 17th, the "Feel Good Friday" location will be in the Parkchester section of the Bronx in the vicinity of Westchester Square.
That's where Howard met a bunch of people; Walter, Tonna, and Vinnie, who were all willing to play along, except every idea they came up with didn't pan out.
Then Howard ran into some special needs volunteers from "The Young Adult Institute." They wanted to give the money to help young adults with developmental disabilites. Being that the organization is a state-funded one, Howard had to get permission from his bosses and when he got the go ahead, that's what they did, they donated the money to "The Young Adult Institute", a great way to feel good indeed.

I think "Feel Good Friday" is wonderful.
If I could give $1000 away, I'd give it to a parent who is could use it for his/her child(ren) for daycare or necessities, including the entertainment for the child(ren)--whether it be a movie, going to Chuck E. Cheese, Dave and Busters or an amusement park.
if Mr.howard thompson gave me $1000 in cash i would pay my rent and give money to some kind of charity. it's always a blessing to receive something as well as give something back. god bless those who have received.

I would go school shopping got my daughter. lords know I would. I love shopping for my child.
If Howard would give me $1000 I would forward and give it to a great friend Catherine Rodriguez. She is a giving helping humane person that always gives the shirt off her back just to help all in need. Cathy has rescued me when I needed it most and she deserves to be honored with at least a joy of acknowledgement. Cathy, has viewed winners can't even imagine her reaction if she won. I can only imagine her with tears of joy and disbelief. She is a loyal viewer and deserves to be surprised by this gift. It would be spectaculor if she were honored at work.
If Howard gave me $1,000, I would use part of it to pay my rent because I have been unnemployed for a long time. The rest of the money I'd give away to poor people in need, specially to my friend Mr. Rudy who is homeless and really could use the money!

Your "Feel Good Friday" segment is demeaning to the recipients (even if they can use the money – and who can’t, today!), and a waste of time that could be better spent on real news stories (including, even, one of your own consumer reports). Why use (yes, USE!) these people to fill airtime? Sure, human interest segments are part of the game, but this has the taint of teasing and insult about it. Even your intern alluded to the needy "look" of the recipients, making my point. To say the “giver” is made to feel good is a false rationalization – afterall, it’s not their money they’re giving away, and they likely give it with a sense of superiority, which is your promoting false pride in them. If you want to give 1000 bucks away - fine - but what is the point of making such a production out of it? I get the impression that most of the recipients don't even realize they're being used. I can see how this segment might appeal to some of your viewers, but please have some respect for the rest of us. Please, drop this "$1000 Give Away" nonsense. Find a worthy person, save them the humiliation of having to appear on TV like an unwitting and desperate child opening their Xmas present in public (if they realize that's how they look, at all). Do your good works (and those of WPIX) - but privately. In short, Howard, this whole concept is phony and insulting, at best.
