Fur Fiasco: Can Howard Find the Missing Minks?
A Brooklyn woman has been trying for years to get back her coats from a local furrier. Frustrated and at her wits end, she called Help Me Howard. Can Howard reunite her with her pricey pelts?
Georgia and her mother shared in their love for fur coats. For the past 40 years, her and her mother bought multiple coats from Mr. Saul Feldman of Feldman Furs. Georgia told us that she and Mr. Feldman had a great business relationship until this fur fiasco unraveled.
In the summer of 2004, Georgia's mom passed away. As sentimental value, she wanted her mom's mink coat to be sized to fit her, in turn Mr. Feldman was also supposed to sell her coat. Georgia wrote out a check to Mr. Feldman for $860 for the alterations.
That winter, Mr. Feldman gave Georgia excuse after excuse as to why the alterations were not complete. In his defense, Mr. Feldman said he was in the hospital, Georgia was sympathetic, and didn't push the issue.
Now we fast forward to 2005, Mr. Feldman told Georgia that the alterations were complete and to come pick up her coat. However, when Mr. Feldman showed her the coat, Georgia said it wasn't her coat. Mr. Feldman apologized and told her that her coat must be in storage.
A few weeks later, Mr. Feldman did produce the correct coat but the alterations weren't satisfactory to Georgia's standards. Mr. Feldman said he would correct the alterations and that the coat would be completed for next winter season.
In the meantime, Mr. Feldman showed Georgia another coat, she liked it so much that she purchased it for $3,500. Along with her coat that was going to be altered, that coat was put in storage. Mr. Feldman told her that she could pick up both coats for the upcoming winter season.
Now by the end of 2006, and still no sign of the coats or a refund, Georgia called Mr. Feldman. He told her that the alterations were in the works, and the coats were at his shop. Georgia went down to the store and again Mr. Feldman could not produce her mothers coat with the correct alterations.
This past fall, Georgia decided that enough was enough and she wanted her coats. She went to the store to get both of her coats, but when she went down there, they said they couldn't find the coats. Georgia is out over $3,500 and just wants her coats back.

A few years ago, I accompanied a friend to Mr. Feldman's store on 29th St. to retrieve a fur coat for which she had paid approximately $4,000. She went through a similar scenario as Ms. Randolph. My friend took Mr. Feldman to Small Claims court - where she won, but he promised her that she’d never get her money. And she hasn’t.
Thank you Howard for exposing him on TV.
