Blue Hippo "Bytes" Its Customers

For years Help Me Howard has received complaints about Blue Hippo from frustrated customers.
The computer site promises people, who don't have good credit or credit at all, the ability to buy computers, printers and TVs. Blue Hippo takes an agreed upon amount monthly out of their bank accounts, until the products are paid for. Unfortunately, many people never receive what they were paying for, while Blue Hippo continues to help itself to their bank accounts.
Sharon Jones paid over $2000 to Blue Hippo for a deal that included a computer, printer, flat screen TV, plus a $300 rebate. She only got a Dell computer, that didn't work very well.
Because Blue Hippo is based in another state, Help Me Howard can only warn its viewers to stay away. Our calls to Blue Hippo were ignored, but we also reached out to Dell computers, who said they would take a look at Sharon's case.
If you are in the market for a computer, save the money either in a savings account or a cookie jar at home. Some stores also offer their own financing programs as well. You can get a good computer these days for about $500. Visit a reputable computer retailer and ask questions first, find out what type of computer you want and compare prices, till you find the best one
It's best to pay for the computer with a credit card, in case of problems down the road. But if you have to pay cash, make sure you get a receipt. If the computer comes with a warranty or service contract, get it ALL in writing. Find out exactly who is responsible for servicing your computer if something does go wrong. This is for your own protection.

If no one complains then nothing happens, so its important to follow through.

I see the Blue Hippo ad from time to time. This kind of infomercial-like sales are mostly garbage.
If you really want a deal, go to sites like spoofee, or dealsea (there are tons of deal sites out there). From time to time they have deals for desktop and laptop from dell (especially in holiday season), HP and some other brands, buy directly from the site.
By the way, some people may have trouble pay the whole fee, but I myself really don't like the monthly payment, as it may involve interest sometimes. If you can, try save up the total amount needed, and than pay for the product in full, one time, then the thing is yours, don't need to worry about the next month payment. I am not that into this monthly payment culture (unless when you are buying big stuffs like cars). The downside is you have to wait until you save up enough money, upside is you may save on interest, and no monthly payment.

Hey in the beginning I seen their commercials and I was very persuaded especialy because I needed a computer badly for when I started school...I later decided to register with bluehippo. Not knowing there past history. I was told from them that a $100 dollar activation fee was going to be charged from my account to get started which I agreed to. Later on I found out that the representative lied and told me after the hundred dollars was taken out my account the computer would be shipped and I would later be able to pay every month while having it. At that I decided to just cancel my account with them overal and find out if my money was refundable. I was able to cancel my account with them so no more money was taken out my account but in regards with the money they told me I couldnt get a refund but could get credit. So I decided to just order something off there website just to get my money's worth back and never deal with them again. While lookin on there website I ran into the cheapest HD TV that was worth the amount that they had for me including shipping amount so I called them and let them know over the phone since they have money for me I would like to purchase the tv for a hundred dollars and they told me I would have to pay more because even though the product and shipping anount added up to hundred which they had for me in credit they said the money they have for me can only go to the product and not the shipment. I was furious but in desperate need to have a product in my hand to not have to deal with them again I sent a money order to them with the amount of thirty something dollars. which was the amount for shipping. It has been Nine months and I still have not recieved anything. The first three months they told me they didnt get the money order and after that I called four times and keep on hearing from them "ohh we recieved the money order but it has to be processed" come on how long does that take..NOT six months...It really has been nine months since I have even came in contact with Blue hippo and still I havent recieved anything..Please if anyone can help me please I live in New York in Brooklyn. Thanks in Advance...I just want my money back or a product to even out the transaction and they keep telling me they cant help me cause the money order has to be processed.
