Interview With A Vampire. Vampire Diaries Cast Talks To PIX!

In spite of frigid temperatures that hovered in the low 20's, the masses turned out in force at Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ on Saturday afternoon to meet and greet Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder -- the stars of The CW's immensely popular drama, The Vampire Diaries. A contingent of fans nearly 6,000 strong converged at the mall to attend the sold-out Hot Topic Vampire Diaries Mall Tour in-store event.

Wesley, a New Jersey native said he was glad to be back in his home state and flattered by the turnout, which he called "insanely surreal," a sentiment echoed by his on-screen brother played by Ian Somerhalder who commented that "afterlife is kind of fun."
"There's a lot of support for the show and so hopefully we can just keep doing what we're doing and people will like it as much as we do," said Somerhalder.

Of course, the overwhelmingly positive response has its downside (or upside...depending on how you choose to look at it) as Wesley told PIX' Andrew Ramos that Somerhalder often gets requests from female fans to bite them, something that Somerhalder wouldn't get into as he jokingly cited the legal issues involved.
In terms of spoilers, the threesome were very cagey about revealing where the season is headed.
"Until we open (the tomb) we certainly don't want to reveal anything. We don't want to talk about what's gonna happen because that's really gonna be a big dramatic event," said Wesley. "And because (executive producer) Kevin WIlliamson would cut our...," said Somerhalder, finishing Wesley's thought. 'Nuff said.
Nina Dobrev, the attractive 21-year-old Canadian who plays both Elena and Katherine did add that "a lot is happening. Everyone's kind of figuring out who they can trust (and) who they can't trust because they don't know who is and who is not a vampire."

More CW Pilot News!

Tom Welling (Smallville's Clark Kent) is the producer of a pilot commissioned by The CW for a possible slot on next fall's schedule. Welling's show is called Hellcats and is a comedy-drama set in the world of competitive cheerleading. Kevin Murphy (who has written for such series as Desperate Housewives and The CW's cult favorite Reaper) wrote the pilot and will co-executive produce with Welling.
The CW also continues to mine ideas for new series from the world of literature (see such success stories as Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries). That's the case with Tara Bray Smith's novel Betwixt which may be making a leap from bookshelves to your flat screen this fall. This pilot is a story about good and evil in which urban changelings protect humans from bad stuff! Sounds like it would slot in really well with Supernatural and the aforementioned Vampire Diaries, no?
The CW has now committed to producing five pilots so far, including Hayden Panettiere's HMS, as well as last week's announcement of Nikita and Amy Sherman-Palladino's unnamed Wyoming-set family drama.

The CW Sets The Date For Top Model's Return And Others!

Tyra's back with a brand new edition of America's Next Top Model on Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm.
In fact, Top Model will be supersized (the show...not the ladies) for the first two weeks with 90-minute episodes on both March 10th and 17th!
Cycle 14 was filmed on location in New Zealand and will feature a new judging panel. Joining returnees Tyra and Nigel Barker are model, designer and entrepreneur Kimora Lee Simmons and American Vogue's Editor-At-Large André Leon Talley. While Miss J will no longer be on the judging panel, he will appear on the show as a mentor and to teach his signature runway walk to the aspiring models.
If that's not good enough, The CW has finally announced the premiere of two new half-hour reality shows that will follow Top Model beginning in March.
On March 10th following the Cycle 14 premiere of Top Model, The CW will unveil High Society. According to a CW press release, High Society is a...
docu-series that lifts the curtain on New York’s most talked-about “Park Avenue Princess,” Tinsley Mortimer, and her young, elite society friends. The series follows Tinsley, who is currently embroiled in the city’s most high-profile divorce, as she and her circle of often-controversial friends circulate through New York’s most prestigious black-tie affairs, outrageous parties and fashion exclusives, with never-before-seen access from behind the velvet rope. Shot on location in New York, Paris, London, Palm Beach, Newport and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the series takes us inside the often-brutal, always-dramatic rat race to stay atop the elite social pyramid and sheds new light on the young socialites competing for the best invites, parties, outfits and press coverage.
Then on March 24th, High Society moves to Wed/9pm to make room for Fly Girls at 930pm. Here's the description...directly from the network:
Over the course of eight half-hour episodes, five beautiful Virgin America flight attendants jet from one glamorous location to the next, including Las Vegas, South Beach and New York City, while pursuing good times, great parties, adventure and love. From their shared home-base “crash pad” in Los Angeles, California, the young women will deal with work lives that include split-second decision-making, demanding and sometimes fascinating passengers, long hours in the air and layovers in interesting locales. Their personal lives are filled with romance, family, friendships and more than a few roommate conflicts.

More CW Pilot News!
The CW has greenlit a pilot from the production team behind such successful series as Numb3rs and The Good Wife.
According to trade newspaper The Hollywood Reporter, the potential series is called Nomads and "is described as an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride following a group of nearly broke young backpackers traveling the world who agree to earn money by working secret missions for the CIA."

Other newly announced projects in the works for a potential slot somewhere on The CW schedule are a reality show featuring celebrity trainer to the stars Tracy Anderson (Anderson boasts such clients as Shakira, Kate Hudson and Courteney Cox, but is best known as Madonna's former personal trainer. Described as a docu-soap, this possible series comes from Ryan Seacrest Productions) and Lost Weekend, "a scavenger hunt show" from Brett Ratner (X-Men, Rush Hour, Prison Break).
The network is also looking to possibly break tradition this summer and air a schedule with first-run content in lieu of the repeats that usually play during the off-season.

Huffington Post declares "Life UneXpected" a gem

Ed Martin of The Huffington Post wrote a great review yesterday about Life UneXpected that you should check out:
"... the arrival this season of an entertaining hour drama that does not revolve around doctors, lawyers, detectives, government agents, supernatural beings or sex-crazed teenagers is a miraculous circumstance all its own.""...uncommonly ambitious storyline as its foundation and characters with so many layers to them it could take years to peel them all away. The opportunities for rewarding emotional connections are endless."
