Your CW Stars At The Movies - Gossip Girl Edition!
While on hiatus, The Gossip Girl cast has been busy shooting other projects scheduled to hit theaters near you later in the year.

Here's a sampling:
Leighton Meester has two films in the pipeline waiting for release in 2010. In the upcoming thriller The Roommate (which sounds a bit like Single White Female Goes To College), Meester is Rebecca, a student who preys on her roommate Sara (Minka Kelly). The Roommate opens in September. Meester also appears in the Steve Carell/Tina Fey romantic action comedy Date Night, hitting theaters on April 9th.
Chace Crawford plays Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon's role) in the Footloose remake which opens June 18th.
Blake Lively appears opposite Ben Affleck and Jon Hamm (Mad Men) in The Town, a crime-drama opening on September 10th. Lively plays Krista, a bank manager that a thief (Affleck) develops feelings for during a heist.
Penn Badgely plays Woodchuck Todd in Easy A, a comedy about a clean-cut high school student who lets some rumors advance her social standing. Easy A, which also features Emma Stone (Superbad, The House Bunny) and Amanda Bynes makes its way to theaters on March 19th.
Jessica Szohr appears in Pirahna 3-D, a horror-thriller about prehistoric piranha who infest a lake and terrorize a small town. Pirahna 3-D stars Elisabeth Shue and features Jaws alumnus Richard Dreyfuss. It opens on April 16th.
Ed Westwick stars as Heathcliff, the poor English boy adopted by a wealthy family who develops a powerful romance with his younger foster sister in a remake of Emily Brontë's classic novel Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights goes into production in Westwick's native England this May, but does not have a release date yet.
Vampire Diaries & Supernatural Are The People's Choice!
The people have spoken!
The favorite new TV drama and favorite sci-fi/fantasy shows can be found back-to-back on Thursday's -- right here on The CW.

Kudos to The Vampire Diaries for walking away with the People's Choice Award as the Favorite New TV Drama. The honor was bestowed on The CW's new hit drama at last night's ceremony broadcast on CBS. The Vampire Diaries beat out ABC's Flash Forward and V, as well as CBS' The Good Wife and NCIS: Los Angeles to come out on top as the favorite new tv drama of the people that matter most -- YOU!
Supernatural had to beat out some particularly tough competition to win the crown as Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show. Sam & Dean took down NBC's Heroes, ABC's Lost, HBO's True Blood and The CW's very own Vampire Diaries en route to their big win!
Both shows return with fresh episodes on Thursday, January 21st -- 2 weeks from tonight!
Is Ryan O'Neal Joining 90210?
That's what Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello is reporting today.

According to Ausiello, Ryan O'Neal has been tapped to play Teddy's dysfunctional superstar actor father in several episodes of 90210 beginning in April.
At least he's had some well-documented experiences to base his character on.
Eric Kripke Talks Supernatural!
Supernatural is in the final season of what Executive Producer Eric Kripke had originally conceived as a 5-year story arc.

So is this the end of the line for Sam & Dean? In an Entertainment Weekly story, this is what Kripke had to say:
"I’m looking at this season as the last chapter in this particular story. That doesn’t mean there can’t be a new story. Buffy did it. The X-Files did it. You close a chapter on a big mythology storyline and then you begin a new one, said Kripke."
"One of the things I like about this show is we don’t draw out mysteries endlessly. We’ll answer a bunch of questions this season and then pose some new ones next season.”
That is, if The CW decides their will be a next season. What do you think? Has Supernatural reached its end or do you think the show still has legs for a 6th season and beyond?
Georgina Makes A Scandalous Return To Gossip Girl!
Michelle Trachtenberg revealed to E!'s Kristin Dos Santos that she will indeed be reprising her evil Georgina Sparks later this season on Gossip Girl and she'll be back to settle some scores!

"She is the best character I've ever played and there'll be a scandal involved, obviously. Shocking! This time they sent her away with a fake prince...she's gonna be pissed. She's gonna get some vengeance," Trachtenberg told E!
So what is this scandal? Trachtenberg was evasive and would only say that it "involves a particular guy."
Trachtenberg, who does double-duty as Nurse Chloe Payne on NBC's Mercy also came clean about her relationship with TV foe Leighton Meester.
"It's so funny because Leighton and I are SO close and we always have to go back and forth like 'I HATE you'...'I don't REALLY hate you,'...'I LOVE you!'"
Gossip Girl returns with all-new episodes this Spring.
Don't Tell Leighton Meester To Shut Up!
Has fame and success gone to the heads of the Gossip Girl cast? According to Page Six, it certainly sounds like it!

Today's New York Post reports several Gossip Girl cast members including Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick were rude, crude, loud and obnoxious as they dined with the in crowd at Philippe Chow's upscale Chinese eatery. Patrons complained about their over-the-top conduct and when the cursing and loud behavior became a bit much, a customer at a nearby table respectfully asked Meester to tone things down. According to a source quoted by Page Six, Meester responded with a big fat "f *** you!" and took offense at being asked to keep it quiet and clean. Rather than add fuel to the fire though, fellow castmate Westwick intervened, told everyone to "hug it up" and defused the heated situation.
Of course, none of this has been confirmed by the restaurant.

One Tree Hill Actor Going To Prison!

Antwon Tanner who played 'Skills' Taylor on One Tree Hill has been sentenced in Brooklyn Federal Court to 3 months in prison for dealing stolen Social Security numbers.
The actor, who has also appeared in such series as Boston Public and The District was ordered to report to jail by April 30th. After his 3-month prison term, Tanner will also spend an additional 5 months under house arrest.
Had Tanner not accepted a plea bargain, the actor could have spent up to 10 years in prison and been forced to cough up $250,000 in fines if found guilty in a jury trial.
Tanner, 34, pleaded guilty in August to identity theft after he attempted to sell 16 fake Social Security numbers and 3 stolen cards to an undercover agent for $10,000.
The actor called his crime an "embarassment to his family and fans" and his lawyer called it an act of "stupidity," resulting from financial woes brought on by the foreclosure on his million dollar California home.
The CW has not made any official comment as to Tanner's future on One Tree Hill.
Jennie Garth Quits 90210!

When 90210 returns in March with new episodes, Kelly Taylor will be nowhere to be found. That's because Jennie Garth and 90210 have parted ways. "I’m not really doing it anymore… [haven't for] awhile," Garth told Access Hollywood on the Golden Globe Awards Red Carpet on Sunday.
According to her husband, actor Peter Facinelli (of Showtime's Nurse Jackie), Garth has decided to take a break from acting in order to spend time with her three children and may also use the time off to write.
Gossip Girl Nabs A Baldwin!

Serena van der Woodsen now has a father and his name is Billy Baldwin...or more precisely the actor playing Serena's dad is Alec Baldwin's younger brother, Billy. That's the word from Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello.
Would that make Serena's uncle 30 Rock's Jack Donaghy? Probably not, but that would be pretty cool!
In any case, Billy Baldwin who was last seen on TV as transvestite loving senator Patrick Darling IV on ABC's Dirty Sexy Money will appear in at least 3 episodes of Gossip Girl as William van der Woodsen beginning in April.
Insiders say that the return of Daddy van der Woodsen will not only have consequences for Serena, but may also drive a wedge between Lily and Rufus.
Ma Kent Pays A Visit To Clark On Smallville!

Annette O'Toole who played Martha Kent during the first six seasons of Smallville has signed on the dotted line to reprise her role as Clark's mother later this season. Ma Kent has been missing from Smallville since she became a senator and moved to Washington, D.C. in 2007. No word yet on why Martha returns or how long she'll hang around, but her re-appearance will likely coincide with the all-important May sweeps.
CW To Air Hope For Haiti Telethon!

The CW will join ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, as well as dozens of cable networks to broadcast the Hope For Haiti Telethon on Friday, January 22nd from 8-10pm.
Hope For Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief was the brainchild of Oscar winning actor George Clooney who organized the charity event along with MTV to benefit the earthquake ravaged people of Haiti.
The telethon will feature some of the biggest names in music including: Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Madonna, Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, Christina Aguilera, Keith Urban, Alicia Keys, Bono, The Edge, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Sting, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, John Legend, and Stevie Wonder.
Also expected to appear are President Bill Clinton, Ben Stiller, Brad Pitt, Chris Rock, Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Jon Stewart, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, Muhammad Ali and more than one hundred other stars of film, TV and music.
Wyclef Jean will host the special from New York, while George Clooney will anchor from Hollywood. CNN's Anderson Cooper will appear live from Haiti.
Music performed during the evening will be made available for download at iTunes for 99 cents each on Saturday with proceeds donated to Haiti relief.
Another One Bites The Dust On 90210!
On the heels of Jennie Garth's departure from 90210, now comes word that Rob Estes will also be exiting the CW drama.

Yesterday, Estes issued a statement that said:
This is my final season on 90210 and I wish the show, cast and crew nothing but the best. I am looking forward to spending time with my kids and exploring other opportunities.
Estes plays Harry Wilson, principal of West Beverly High and the father of two main characters on the series, Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Dixon (Tristan Wilds).
The set up for his exit will be explained when the show returns with new episodes in March. "..if fans tune in, they'll understand why Rob's character is leaving," said a CW source.
What does this mean for Lori Loughlin who plays Harry's wife Debbie?
Is the show purging itself of some of its older main characters? Estes will be the third older actor to leave the show since season one (following the departures of Jessica Walter's Tabitha Wilson and Jennie Garth's Kelly Taylor).
What do you think?
Perry White Returns To Smallville!
Things are happening in twos this week. 90210 is shedding two regular cast members and two iconic Smallville characters not seen in a while, will be returning to that show.

It was just announced that Michael McKean will reprise his role as Daily Planet Editor-In-Chief Perry White later this season. The announcement of McKean's return comes only a couple of days (two again?) after his real life wife Annette O'Toole was reported to be reprising her role as Martha Kent on the long-running CW hit.
Perhaps not so coincidentally, the two will be returning in the same episode (the second to last of the season) tentatively scheduled to air on May 14th.
We’re thrilled to have Michael back on the show,” said Smallville executive producer Brian Peterson, “and to be able to link it with the anticipated return of Martha Kent is just a phenomenal way to gear up to the end of the season.”
Peterson also revealed that in the episode we get to see Perry White's first encounter with Lois Lane.

Supernatural Spin-off Set For Web Debut!

Ghostfacers, the spooky reality show within Supernatural is getting its own spin-off to be seen exclusively on the internet.
Hollywood entertainment bible Variety reported today that Ghostfacers will premiere on TheWB.com (the former website of The WB) and will also be regularly available at cwtv.com.
Ghostfacers is a fictional reality show that follows the somewhat comedic exploits of a group of camcorder carrying ghost hunters.
Ten 3-minute webisodes will be produced.
No word yet on whether or not Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki or Jensen Ackles will appear in any of the webisodes, but Kelly Carlson (Nip/Tuck) recently filmed a role as a deceased actress whose spirit returns to haunt a movie theater.
A.J. Buckley, Travis Wester, Brittany Ishibashi and Austin Basis (now seen as Math on The CW's Life Unexpected) will all be reprising their Ghostfacer characters from Supernatural.
A premiere date has not been set.
CW Greenlights A Couple Of Pilots!
Fall pilot season is in full bloom and The CW is already deciding what new shows you're going to be watching next fall.

On the list of potential new series so far are a new family soap set on a horse farm out west from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino, the minds behind WB favorite Gilmore Girls and Nikita, a spin-off of the movie and late 90's cable TV series. In Nikita, the original Nikita has gone rogue and has been replaced by a new Nikita. Nikita comes from McG, executive producer of such series as The CW's Supernatural, NBC's Chuck and Fox' Human Target.
