This fall on Melrose Place, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz portrays Violet Foster, a young woman fresh off the turnip truck - a hick from the sticks who lands at L.A.'s most scandalous address. But don't expect Ashlee's Violet to be of the "shrinking" variety. All is not what it seems. In fact, Simpson-Wentz reveals that Violet will have a dark side -- perhaps one that plays an integral part in the murder mystery storyline that kicks of the inaugural season of the eagerly anticipated new prime time
"She's a little off. She's got a dark side. She grew up with a foster family and never knew love and family, so people have just come in and out of her life. She just wants to be accepted and loved," Simpson-Wentz told the

Eric Balfour Is Living The Beautiful Life!
Eric Balfour (you know the face, but maybe not the name) is joining The Beautiful Life: TBL for a multi--episode stint - reuniting him with his O.C. co-star, Mischa Barton.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Balfour who has made memorable appearances on such prime time shows as 24, The West Wing and Six Feet Under will play Eric (clever, huh?), a "charming rival to Claudia (Elle Macpherson) at a competing modeling agency."

Sara Paxton Is Living 'The Beautiful Life' In New York!
Sara Paxton stars as Raina Marinelli, an up and coming high fashion model on The Beautiful Life: TBL. She sat down with Emily Frances this morning on the PIX Morning News and dished about her new show and working in New York.

PIX: Let's talk about Ashton Kutcher. He's the executive producer. Is he hands on with the show?
Sara Paxton: Yeah. Ashton's sort of more like the man behind the curtain. I always say he's the "Wizard of Oz" because he has his hands sort of dipped into everything even though he's not physically there all the time. But he does come on set and he e-mails us and calls us all the time and he definitely wants to be hands on, especially with the actors.
PIX: Let's talk Mischa Barton. At lot of stuff was happening prior to when you guys were filming. Were these things addressed on set or is it kind of water under the bridge at this point?
SP: Definitely water under the bridge. Nothing was ever addressed on set. Nothing has really affected the work or anything. We're on episode 6 now, so everything is just sort of in the past.
PIX: A lot of people don't realize that you and Corbin Bleu go back to childhood days.
SP: Way back. We did a movie together called Soldier with Kurt Russell. We were eight and our parents became friends. We became friends and we are so blown away that we get to do this show together everyday after so many years.
PIX: Was it happenstance that you both got cast?
SP: I just found out that he got cast and we both showed up on set on our first day like "Dude, what's up? What's happening...?"
PIX: Let's talk about the role. The premiere episode takes place during a fashion show during Fashion Week which happens to be now in New York City. So have you had time to hit any fashion shows so far?
SP: A little bit. Our work schedule is so hectic. We work such long hours. It's been really hard to actually get out there. But I did Fashion's Night Out. I walked around the city. I went to Calvin Klein. I went to Dior and that was really fun. And I'm actually going to the Calvin Klein show tomorrow night, so I'm really excited.
PIX: You're getting a lot in. You're a California girl, so moving to New York and being able to be part of this has got to be really exciting.
SP: Exactly. It's a whole new experience for me so I wanna get out there and do as much as I can.
PIX: What's your favorite part of New York so far?
SP: The difference between New York and L.A. that I love the most is in L.A. you have to drive everywhere...it's isolated, you spend a lot of time alone in your car. You have to plan everything. It's like 'where are we going?...30 minutes drive.' In New York, I can just walk outside my front door and get a bagel...
PIX: And it's easy to order in too!
SP: It's SO easy. My groceries are delivered to me. I was like...'what IS this? It's AMAZING!'
PIX: To be able to film in New York is not bad!
SP: Omigosh! I feel so lucky everyday. I get to wake up and be paid in this amazing city.
The Beautiful Life: TBL premieres tonight at 9pm after America's Next Top Model.
Julian Sands is Jor-El on Smallville!
Julian Sands who has appeared recently in such TV series as 24 and Lipstick Jungle and starred in the Warlock movies during the early '90's can add Smallville to his long list of credits. In November, Sands will appear as Jor-El, Clark Kent's Kryptonian father in a flashback/time-warp themed episode titled Kandor.
In this installment, a young Jor-El's relationship to Major Zod (Callum Blue) will be explained. In past episodes of Smallville, Terence Stamp has played the voice of Jor-El. Thirty years ago, Terence Stamp played Zod in both Superman and Superman 2.
Smallville returns with all-new episodes on Friday at 8pm beginning September 25th.

Jasmine Guy Is A Witch...On Vampire Diaries!
This is going to make a lot of people feel really old. Jasmine Guy who starred as college student Whitley Gilbert in the mid 80's sitcom A Different World has been cast as Bonnie's GRANDMOTHER on The Vampire Diaries.

The 47-year-old actress is a bit young to be playing the grandmother of a teenybopper but Executive Producer Kevin Williamson explained to TV Guide the reason she looks so young is because she's really a witch.
"She's a college professor at the local university who teaches the occult. Bonnie starts to think she may be a witch, and it turns out they have a lineage of witches in their family dating back to Salem. Bonnie thinks it's all crazy until she starts doing things like lighting fires," Williamson said.
Although I know it's strictly taboo to ask, do you think this black magic woman will be a "good witch" or a "bad witch?"
Post your comments or theories.
Thomas Calabro Dishes The Dirt On Melrose Place
Thomas Calabro (Dr. Michael Mancini) made a housecall at WPIX the other day and dished the dirt on the new season of Melrose Place and growing up in Brooklyn.

PIX: You're the only original cast member that was on the entire run of Melrose. That's a pretty good distinction for you.
Thomas Calabro: Yeah, I think it's one of the most surprising ones because it was so much fun everyday, all day for seven years. I don't know why everybody didn't stick around the whole time.
PIX: Was it as fun as it appeared to those of us that were watching - like being on set?
TC: Yeah it did. Mostly 'cause there wasn't as much drama behind the camera (as) there was in front of it. Behind the camera we had a great time.
PIX: Speaking of drama, how much drama can we expect on the new Melrose Place?
TC: A lot. It's beautiful people with major problems again and there's gonna be a lot of stuff. They mix it up pretty good. They seem to be able to juggle a lot more problems than they used to in one episode, so that's good.
PIX: Is Dr. Mancini going to change now that he's kind of the elder statesman or is he going to be as bold as the young people.
TC: Well, I was the oldest character the first time around and I'm the oldest character on the show (and person) the second time around so that doesn't change. What has changed for Dr. Mancini is a lot more money. He's invented a 'heart valve thingybob' (the technical term escapes me at the moment). It's given him a lot of prestige, a lot of power and a lot of money so he can do everything he did before, and then some.
PIX: You also got a chance to direct. Do you have any aspirations to do it again now?
TC: We'll see how it goes moving forward. Certainly I always have my eye to that so we'll see how it goes.
PIX: I didn't realize, but you're a good ol' Brooklyn boy and you worked in your dad's diner on top of a subway.
TC: That's right. It was the LL stop in Williamburg - two stops from Manhattan.
PIX: What did you do?
TC: I did everything. I did everything he told me to do and he told me to do more and more as the years went by. I spent a lot of my childhood there.
PIX: And football.. Stuyvesant High School. You're like a New York success story. It's so great to have you back not only on Melrose but back here on our network.
TC: Thank you so much!
Melrose Place airs Tuesdays at 9pm after 90210 (just like the good 'ol days)!

When we last spotted Jack Bass, Chuck Bass' scheming uncle had been flattened by his nephew and was sucker-punched by Lily van der Woodsen who one-upped the jerk and took over Bass industries. Since then, Jack's been in Australia licking his wounds, but he'll be making his way back to the Upper East Side later this season. Methinks someone's gonna pay.

According to Desmond Harrington who plays the older Bass, Jack will return in an episode airing in late winter/early spring. "I will be back this year. I think it's episode 15 or 16 where I show back up. It's fun playing Uncle Jack," says Harrington, who's also known to Dexter fans as Detective Quinn on the hit Showtime drama.
So what brings Jack back to town? Looks like Jack has nephew Chuck in his crosshairs. "I think, if anything, I am there to screw that kid's life up basically. I think he might be, out of all the most evil characters the show has ever had on it, the most evil character. He's evil," Harrington told TV Guide.
This is gonna be good!!

Gossip Girl Star Is Granted A Restraining Order Against Her Ex!
A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge granted Gossip Girl's Kelly Rutherford (Lily van der Woodsen) a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, German entrepreneur Daniel Giersch. The two filed for divorce in January, citing irreconcilable differences. In court documents, Rutherford claims Giersch "has begun to follow me, my mother and my nanny and he shows up unexpectedly to threaten and scare us."

She also claims that Giersch "has harassed [my nanny] with questions about me virtually every time he sees her... last week Daniel's harassment of [the nanny] led to an actual threat that he is going to file a lawsuit against her." As a result of the threat, her children's nanny quit.
The couple had been embroiled in a nasty child custody fight for over a year, which was only recently settled. The two had agreed to joint custody, as well as co-parenting counseling.
The restraining order will remain in effect for three weeks, until a court hearing scheduled for October 15th takes place. The order prevents Giersch from being within 100 yards of Rutherford, her two children, Hermes, 2, and Helena, 3 months, her mother, nanny, home, workplace and vehicle.
Giersch's attorney Fahi Takesh Hallin hit back against Rutherford's allegations, claiming the harrassment complaint to be without foundation. "Daniel will remain focused on co-parenting both of their children and not make any personal comments in order to continue to protect the children's need for privacy and well being," said Hallin.
The Beautiful Life: TBL Is First Fall Casualty
Goodbye Mischa Barton. We hardly knew ye.

The CW has yanked model drama The Beautiful Life: TBL from the schedule after its second episode failed to register with viewers.
The program has been canceled and production has ended.
While there is no official word from the network on a replacement, entertainment bible Variety reports that the network will likely fill the slot with repeats of Melrose Place until another program is ready.
Waiting in the wings as a mid-season replacement is the highly-touted dramedy, Life UneXpected (a cross between Gilmore Girls and Juno).

The CW has also ordered two new reality series: Fly Girls (about flight attendants on Virgin America Airlines) and an untitled series starring "New York's pre-eminent young socialite" Tinsley Mortimer. According to Variety, The CW plans on pairing the two shows.
